Business Context And Main Purpose Of The Job

Unilever is looking to recruit an InHome Field Manager reporting to the Field Lead. The field department is divided in 10 sectors for HMSM, each led by 1 Sales Area Manager and supported by one or two Sales Representatives and a merchandiser. In addition to this the Proximity Channel is also managed by the In Home team and is divided in 2 regions (North & South) with 2 dedicated sales reps via cross-retailer approach.

The mission of the Field team is to translate the category / brand / customer plans instore and to drive the growth of our field-influenced customers by ensuring brilliant basics and activating the right growth pillars (Distri of Top & COTC products, Inno Distri build up, Top SKU OSA, Promo orders & execution, local 2nd placement nego, SOS battle).

As Field Manager, your role is to

  • Pilot -> Prepare, build and brief the relevant priorities to the Field Team in collaboration with the Business units leads.
  • Coach -> Manage their performance on all relevant pillars and adjust where necessary.
  • Execute -> Identify, facilitate and develop the ways of working of the total team (& 3th party) in line with the ever-changing market.

Main Accountabilities

  • Field strategy & implementation planning: You will build the field strategic priorities & implementation planning with the head office, field & 3th parties stakeholders. You are at the crossroad of the company connecting with the Key Account Managers, Category managers and Marketeers to ensure the most appropriate and efficient field briefings to land the defined priorities. You coordinate the quarterly Season starters in cooperation with the Field lead and are in charge of hosting the monthly field meetings. You monitor & keep the team up-to-date of the performances and have weekly calls with the SAM’s to adjust & (de)brief were necessary. (Provide clear objectives and deliverables for the field team.)
  • Internal Field representative: You are part of the BU’s (Business Units Nutrition, Ice cream, Beauty & Personal Care , Home care), where you co-create the sales plans and update the BU’s about the developments & Results in the field. You coordinate the internal teams to ensure the needed input towards the Field team (OTIFNE).
  • Performance management: You manage the performance of the 10 sectors on the growth pillars of the field: Distribution, OSA, Innovation, Promo, 2nd placement and Share of Shelf. With the overall sell out growth as output KPI. You elaborate realistic but ambitious targets for the sector teams, follow the evolution, and share the best practices across sectors. Together with the KAMs and CSPs, you build corrective plans if needed. To support you in this analysis and priorities, you can count on the help of a Field Trainee.
  • Team development: You facilitate the ways of working of the sector teams and the total team to help them learn and grow. You help the team to reach their ambitions together with their Sales reps, Merchandisers and customers. You facilitate the connection with the internal BU’s. Together with the rest of the team, you help in the elaboration of efficient tools for an efficient way-of-working instore. (Talent catalyst and people development (direct and indirect))
  • Incentive program: You develop and organize the store incentive program to maximize sell-out by creating a win-win POA (plan of approach) with the HM/SM customers. This with taking store category and sell-out performance rankings into account to maximize output.
  • Data & Tooling: You support in cooperation with the data specialist to be sure all targets & CRM related questions are visible and live to guarantee a clear follow-up of all priorities. You are middleman and support for changes linked to all set priorities (promo, distri, inno..) on the different KPI’s to be sure that performance management and target setting are optimal implemented. You develop a data driven execution powerhouse with your team, based on data knowledge & results.
  • Customer development: You help our customers to grow their business with our brands in the retail channel through your team, your tools & the tailormade approach.

Relevant Experience & Key Skills

  • You have experience in team management, can drive a team and lead by example.
  • You are an expert in communication – right message at the right moment – and you have a positive mindset.
  • You have knowledge of the FMCG sector and know the WOW of retailers.
  • You are emotionally intelligent, you listen and adapt your communication to your interlocutor, you understand the interpersonal relationships within a team and can use them to get the best version of each of the team members.
  • You are organized, structured, accountable and a quick problem solver.
  • You are an independent and pro-active team player
  • You are dynamic, pro-active and have a healthy dissatisfaction with the status quo.
  • You are very customer oriented, commercial, and you easily spot growth opportunities.
  • You have experience in performance management and you are analytical.
  • You apply an agile analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision.
  • You connect rapidly and can manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously.
  • You speak French, Dutch and English
