If you’re looking for a challenge and meaningful role, you’re in the right place.About You And This RoleThe Production Engineer / Process Safety Engineerdevelops and applies technology, management systems, and hazard assessment tools designed to protect people, property, and the environment by controlling the risks of unplanned events such as fires, explosions, and chemical releases. Has the corporate stewardship responsibility to assure that process safety technology, management systems and hazard assessment tools are appropriately applied in the supported business or businesses. Supports a supports facility/site and/or influences changes to Dow Process Safety technology and initiatives. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines. Process automation covers a significant area of computer applications: The DCS and SIS control systems, The process automation network, Development Simulation and Trainings systems, MES systems and applications, AC&O systems and applications. As the Process Safety Engineer, you will serve as a process automation lead for improvements and plant support. We need someone who will be able to engage the team to deliver to the highest standards in process automation in a strong partnership with Operations and TES.ResponsibilitiesThe Production Engineer / Process Safety Engineer is responsible for:- Partners with the Technology Center and EH&S leaders to develop and implement business strategies for meeting EH&S goals as related to process safety.
- Works with assigned Technology Centers, develop and implement global strategies for defining and implementing Process Safety Most Effective Technology (MET).
- Defines Process Safety templates and guidance that can be leveraged globally for assigned Technology Centers.
- Provides local Process Safety support for geographically aligned facilities, including guidance on interpreting LPPs and local regulations, conducting root cause investigations (RCI) and RCPHAs, approving Management of Change reviews, and supporting other Process Safety requirements as needed.
- Develops and implements strategies for defining and implementing Process Safety Most Effective Technology (MET) for assigned business.
- Participates in Process Safety Technology Center initiatives and activities.
- Provides Process Safety expertise for Management of Change, including approval of MOCs as the Process Safety functional reviewer.
- Participates in RCIs for incidents at business aligned facilities.
- Ensures Process Safety training for personnel within the business has been implemented.
- Business aligned responsibilities include:
- Has accountability for the process safety related activities for the facility in Zwijndrecht. In conjunction with the Technology Center personnel and EH&S Leaders, develop and implement business strategies for compliance with all corporate process safety requirements (including Dow LPP Gap assessments) and meeting the corporate long-term strategy for reduction in Process Safety incidents.
- Develops and implement global strategies for defining and implementing Process Safety MET.
- Partners with the Technology Center to define Process Safety templates that can be leveraged globally.
- Partners with the Technology Center to Review Process Safety incidents across the technology and develop recommendations to eliminate repeat incidents and improve performance; ensure root causes are indeed identified.
- Participates in Project Reviews with the Technology Center and develop recommendations for addressing process safety issues.
- Geographic aligned responsibilities include:
- Conducts Reactive Chemical/Process Hazard Analyses (RC/PHAs), facilitate LOPA studies, conduct Project Reviews and ensure they are completed on time. Develop recommendations for addressing Process Safety deficiencies identified in these reviews.
- Provides Process Safety expertise for Management of Change reviews.
- Provides interpretations of LPPs and other Process Safety requirements.
- Provides guidance and interpretation of local regulatory requirements.
- Provides Process Safety training for technical personnel.
- Conducts Security Vulnerability Assessments and corporate EH&S audits.
- Supports the business initiatives regarding external manufacturing, Joint Ventures, and I-Park activities.
- Participates in incident investigations and leverage the learning from these incidents across Dow.
- Processes Safety responsibilities may include: LPP ownership, external advocacy activities, special project teams, technical resource networks, mentoring new Process Safety Technology Leaders (PSTLS).
