Caterpillar’s Electrification & Advanced Power Solutions (E&APS) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

The Opportunity

This exciting new role sits within the newly formed Electrification & Advanced Power Division will manage the incubation of new business ventures and coordinate field pilots primarily for Construction Industries in Europe. This role will reward you with a dynamic working environment, where innovation and start up mindset enables solution development to support our customers in achieving their sustainability roadmap. This is a highly strategic role that relies on effective networking and exceptional interpersonal skills as there is significant interdependency across Caterpillar with key business partners.

This Program Manager role in the E&APSD Business Incubation will diligently focus on projects / business ventures delivery and execution, relying on a strategic perspective to assure the most relevant outcome and impact to develop and validate business models.

The position often manages complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique, and solutions can require non-traditional approaches as well as innovation.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage project deliverables and coordinate resources across the enterprise.

  • Provide close field support for successful pilot execution.

  • Develop solutions for field pilots’ execution by partnering with internal teams across verticals or propose and follow-up on external business partners opportunities.

  • Follow lean startup principles to validate business ideas and accelerate enterprise learning.

  • Document and measure learning objectives through disciplined, fact-based methodologies

  • Develop technical and commercial requirements for the business ventures to be sustainable.

  • Refine and improve business venture ideas.

  • Communicate results with key stakeholders.

Skills and Experience:

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Significantly progressive job-related experience – ideally within the Construction and/or Power Generation industries

  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and project management skills

  • A proven performance record in delivering results, working independently, influencing others (both internally and externally)

  • Expert Business acumen skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization and find partners to develop solutions.

  • Comfortable working in an agile and innovative environment.

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Experience across construction and/or power generation, in dealer facing/customer facing/field roles.

  • Ability to navigate and influence in a large matrix organization.

  • Maintain a positive and can-do attitude and approach to work.

  • Exceptional candidates will have experience in deploying lean startup tools (i.e. frameworks from Strategyzer, Lean Startup, IDEO) or successfully launched a new product introduction.
