We are hiring a Project Manager for our prestigious partner DIGIT TM (DG Informatics) in Brussels. DIGIT-TM is a contract from the European Commission for IT services across Europe.

Main Responsibilities

As Project Manageryou will be responsible for:

  • Drive the elaboration of IT business requirements of the different components of the European Student Card initiative (“ESCI”, including Erasmus Without Paper, European Student Card, European Student Identifier and Erasmus App) and monitor the effectiveness of its implementation by the external contractor
  • Design and drive the creation of links between the ESCI infrastructure and the Erasmus+ User Management System (in particular the Beneficiary module)
  • Ensure that the ESCI IT infrastructure meets Commission standards, for instance in terms of data security
  • Proactively monitor the progress of IT related projects and help identify and manage risks to the successful outcome of projects by proposing mitigation measures when applicable
  • Provide expertise to ensure a successful integration of the Online Language Support system into the EU Academy platform and ensure appropriate links with the Erasmus+ App.
  • Assist the unit in liaising with stakeholders and replying to enquiries from service providers, issuers of student cards and student organisations.
  • Support the unit in its cooperation with DG CNECT, DG EMPL and DG DIGIT who manage files linked with the initiatives.
  • Provide support in preparing and reviewing documents related to annual reporting, meetings with the Commissioner, Directors and Steering Committees and communication activities linked to the initiatives
  • Support the unit in the organisation of webinars on policy files managed by the unit

Successful Candidate

Required Technical expertise:

  • Minimum of six years of experience as a Project Manager / Business Manager in IT-related projects within the European Commission or within other large organisations involved in international IT systems integration (e.g. banking sector, health care sector),
  • Experience with designing and/or supervising large IT systems integration projects
  • Expertise with IT projects involving authentication, identification, data security and role management
  • Expertise in optimisation of processes through digitalising workflows
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced and high-stakes environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to translate IT jargon into mainstream language

Specific expertise

Additional assets for possible consideration:

  • Experience in working with the broader Higher Education sector in Europe and/or knowledge of the Erasmus+ programme implementation (from the perspective of participants, beneficiaries, National Agencies or the European Commission),
  • Ability to think strategically about the long-term development and improvement of IT systems

Languages

  • Excellent command of English.
  • Excellent drafting skills in English.
