Project + Manufacturing manager

We are looking for a Product/Project Manager to help us take the next step in scaling up Bao Living. You will be our specialist for everything related to supply chain, on-site work and cost management and be an integral part of the scaling up of the installation of SAM units in Belgium and abroad.

In this phase of the business, your responsibilities will be twofold. Initially, many of your responsibilities will be shared with the product team, as each member will be asked to design SAMs, create quotes and prepare a proposal document for potential customers. This work is done between projects and is necessary for us to land these projects and continue building SAMs.

As we move towards the execution of these projects, you will increasingly take the lead. It will be a challenge to move from designing a SAM to managing the operations and installing the units on site, but this will encourage you to grow on all fronts, as you will take what you have learned in the design phase to implementation. It is very much a given inde stage of the business that this job will require you or encourage you to reach.

The day-to-day management of the pre-build, build and post-build phases requires a structured approach, clear communication and a knack for diving into the details of quotes, orders, costs and more. You’ll set budgets, manage orders, communicate with suppliers, production staff and customers, arrange transport and make sure construction runs smoothly.

At Bao Living, we pride ourselves on working together constructively, doing the right thing over the easy thing, with proactive communication, hard-working people. All in an open and informal working environment where we encourage each other to grow as people and professionals.

This includes

Further develop and maintain the design of our product; the SAM. This includes digital design and the development of a digital library that is a crucial part of the configurability and ease of use of our product.

  • This design work has innovative and conceptual aspects, but must meet production and installation requirements to ensure the practical implementation of our product.
  • Contact with both internal and external partners to come up with new solutions. You work together with your own product and marketing team, but also with industrial partners, partners in the design studio, production and installation parties.
  • Contact with suppliers of almost all materials used in construction: raw materials, kitchen and bathroom equipment, HVAC equipment, electricity and home automation.
  • Sense of aesthetics, because the SAM must offer a practical, comfortable and ethical solution to the customer. Overall, however, we are looking for a profile that focuses more on function than form.
  • Above are some concrete examples of the kind of work you will be doing, but you should keep in mind that at this stage of our business you must be prepared to take on different roles within the company. One day you might be dealing with administration or managing a project, the next with practical matters on a building site. Be ready for it!

What is expected of you

  • You are ’self-motivated’. You are part of a team that has to invent its future every day.
  • You have a keen interest in industrial design and/or in helping to build a new type of building product for the 21st century.
  • Focus on growth. Bao Living strives for growth because its product can only flourish with volume.
  • Taking initiative within a consensual environment. We strive to be a highly collaborative work environment and expect you to contribute proactively.
  • Have high standards but know that perfection does not exist.
  • Have an eye for detail and a good judgment for the "details that matter".
  • Be flexible: you must be comfortable with the alternation between leading and supporting roles (project leader to basic administration).
  • You are not afraid to get your hands dirty, after all, we work in the construction sector.
  • You can find the balance between innovation, original concepts and practical, deliverable solutions.

What can you expect from us?

  • A salary in line with your capabilities and experience.
  • Flexible working hours and a culture that values a healthy balance.
  • A start-up environment in a co-working space that accommodates a handful of other creative businesses.
  • Lots of room to learn and apply new skills. Do you want to develop presentation skills for a large audience?
  • The possibility to design your own task that gives you a lot of autonomy.
  • You get the unique opportunity to grow in the company.

What do you need?

  • Driving licence B, a private car is not required.
  • Command of Dutch and English. French is an asset.
