In your role as Accountant at BOSAQ, you won’t be merely crunching numbers all day. You are instrumental in managing the financial operations of multiple Belgian entities, as well as several international subsidiaries. By hiring you we bring the majority of our accounting activities in-house, and you will be responsible for day-to-day accounting, payment preparation, VAT filings, and cost allocations. BOSAQ is an ambitious company, and is growing rapidly. As we go through the growth phases, ideally your role will evolve to include financial analysis and internal reporting in support of the CFO and senior management.

Your key responsibilities will be as follows:

????Core Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintaining accurate and timely financial records in compliance with Belgian GAAP
• Recording general ledger entries, supplier invoices, expense reports and adjustments
• Customer invoice creation and following up on payments
• Managing month-end and year-end closing processes across multiple entities
• Matching of Invoice / PO / Receipt.

????Payments & Cash Management

• Preparing domestic and international payment batches
• Monitoring Bank cash flow, managing Petty cash, credit card statement reconciliation.
• Supporting cash forecasting and banking relationships

⚖️VAT & Statutory Compliance

• Collecting, validating, and submitting VAT returns (for Belgium and, if applicable, also abroad)
• Managing submission of annual statutory accounts.
• Ensuring compliance with Belgian and international accounting and tax obligations
• Connecting with external tax advisors, legal counsel, and auditors when needed

????Cost Allocation & Intercompany

• Allocating costs across departments, entities, and projects
• Handling intercompany recharging, reconciliations, and documentation
• Supporting in developing internal financial controls

????️ERP & Process Integration

• Working within existing ERP systems and assisting in future implementations or transitions
• Assisting in setting up efficient workflows and automation within the ERP environment

????As the company grows, this role might further evolve to include an element of Internal Reporting & Support. This could translate into:

• Supporting the CFO with financial reports, variance analysis, and budget tracking
• Contributing to management dashboards and KPIs
• Providing data-driven insights for strategic decision-making

⚒️ Skills

As Accountant, you have at a minimum the following:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP, VAT rules, and financial reporting requirements
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience in Belgium, if you also have some international experience that is a big advantage
• Hands-on experience with various ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Exact Online, Odoo, Netsuite, SAP, etc.)
• The ability to work across entities and manage multi-company bookkeeping
• Excellent skills in Excel
• Fluency in both English and Dutch, as both languages are essential in managing our company processes
