Overview:

As Global Key Accountant Manager, you will have ultimate responsibility to increase Kemin’s business with Cargill on a world-wide basis. To achieve this goal the you will work with regional teams to develop and manage global relationships, manage trials of Kemin products. An essential part of this will be to place more of Kemin’s products on Cargill’s positive list. You will have sole responsibility for this. In addition, you will facilitate global contract negotiations keeping Kemin positioned such that we defend our existing business and margins.

Responsibilities:

What you’ll be doing:
  • Develop relationships with Key Decision Makers in Marketing and Technology in Cargill Feed and Nutrition, Cargill Premix and Nutrition and Cargill Risk Management and Sourcing such that Kemin has a full and complete understanding of Cargill’s priorities and strategic initiatives;
  • Help facilitate Executive level meetings between Kemin and Cargill Senior Management such that we can leverage these relationships in areas that will lead to new opportunities;
  • Design and help execute animal and laboratory trials to prove the efficacy of Kemin products at Cargill research sites;
  • Work with regional Kemin Companies to develop and manage global relationships with Cargill while working with a team of complex Account Managers within Kemin’s business units to 1) set directives, 2) formulate strategic account plans, 3) do market and product segmentations, and 4) execute on plans;
  • Work with Kemin Business Units to host Innovation days for Cargill to initiative new projects and establish needs;
  • The Global Key Account Manager will coordinate activities with Cargill and focus Kemin efforts towards matching challenges at Cargill with Kemin’s capabilities in each business unit;
  • The Global Key Account Manager will work closely with the Cargill RMS and SMT teams to ensure that Kemin’s efforts are aligned with the regional and global priorities of Cargill;
  • Travel to all significant Cargill locations (both inside the US and outside the US) to identify opportunities in regional markets and help facilitate adoption of those technologies within Cargill and the sales of Kemin products;
  • Work as a “Clearing Center” for regional issues that develop between Cargill and Kemin or between a Cargill Region and the Corporate Headquarters;
  • Work with Cargill’s Technology Innovation Center in Elk River, MN and Innovation Centre in Velddriel, Netherlands to identify opportunities for Kemin Technologies and for Kemin and Cargill to collaborate on new technologies;
  • Facilitate the negotiation of Global Supply Agreements that are acceptable to all Kemin Regional Agrifood Companies and to both Cargill Feed and Nutrition and Cargill Premix and Nutrition;
  • Coordinate pricing of Kemin’s products on a global basis such that regional differences in pricing can be supported and explained;
  • Form defensive strategies to defend Kemin’s business with Cargill and also help prepare Kemin for areas where Cargill could become a potential competitor;
  • Gather quarterly sales data from all regional Kemin Agrifood Companies and consolidate sales into a single report to be shared with Cargill;
  • Work with Cargill and the various Regional Kemin Companies to review report, resolve any differences so that quarterly rebates may be paid;
  • When agreement is reached with Cargill, process payment of Quarterly Rebate through Kemin’s AP Department.

Qualifications:
What we expect of you
  • University degree with +5 years of experience, Master’s degree or PhD with experience in animal nutrition or similar;
  • As a global position, experience in international business is a requirement. Fluent English required while a second and third language are highly desirable;
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills;
  • Strategic/Complex Account Management experience;
  • Multi-regional experience would be preferred;
  • Marked leadership skills;
  • Knowledge of and ability to design and manage feed trails for a variety of species;
  • Diligently and effectively manage conflicts;
  • Sales management and marketing courses are a plus;
  • Above-than-average organization skills;
  • A business-minded manager with a broad scientific knowledge base who is able to provide leadership, set priorities, work across business lines and meet timetables leading to the attainment of goals;
  • Manage expenses wisely;
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time both within the United States and internationally;
  • A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution and a distinct sense of urgency.

Working Conditions

This role will be based in whichever location is most relevant to building strong relationships with the key contacts at Cargill. This is a global appointment, requiring international travel to all Kemin and other locations. It is estimated that the successful candidate will travel up to 50% of the time to all Kemin locations internationally.
