The Product Development Manager is the technical interface between Bekaert and the customer when it comes to innovation projects and new products, technical questions of existing products and customer claims when they are related to product development. By engaging with the customer and the full capabilities of the Bekaert value chain, Product Development Manager will deliver products and services with unique Bekaert identity that lives up to Bekaert business strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop business opportunities and drive creation of new products from idea to the customer.
    • In collaboration with market intelligence, understand industry trends and develop customer needs-based
    • Transfer knowledge about customer insight into new approvals /products, aims at achieving high approval hit rate.
    • Supervise process of approvals and new product introduction in accordance to latest standards (IATF…)
    • Actively support innovation pipeline
  • Lead innovation project, value improvement project, or initiatives related to product development process improvement.
    • Coordinate with cross functional teams to create and drive business growth through projects
    • Be the Technical Project Leader in project management activities, engaging with the customer and multiple functions within Bekaert, Supply chain, R&D, etc
    • Lead projects to improve processes of new constructions (cost and process wise), as process settings and breakthrough improvement. Such as Fractures/Ton, scrap, Headdies/Ton, speeds in WWD.. (all of new constructions)
  • Execute product development tasks and continuous improvement
    • Manage projects according to the whole product development procedure
    • Gives guidance and assistance both to customer and BK plants (new products and other technical matters)
    • Ensure that Bekaert works according to the customer procedures and requirements
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Preferably has 3 years’ experience in technical function in Technical Center or plant
  • Strong commercial mindset and customer oriented
  • Master degree or above in engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of Project Management skills are preferred
  • Strong people relationship as well as communication and presentation skills
  • Very eager to learn new things, testing new tools and ways of working with open-mind set
  • Good in English and/or whatever main business language is at customer
  • Willingness to travel, 30% of working time
