Regulatory Stewardship Manager, EMEA


For our office in Diegem, Belgium we are looking for a Regulatory Stewardship Manager EMEA. Your main purpose consists of providing leadership and support across the entire life cycle for Bayer Crop Science Row Crop Seeds, treated Seed & Traits portfolio. In this role, you will join forces with your colleagues within the global, regional and local regulatory stewardship community and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.


Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Translate product specific global stewardship guidelines and policies into regional/country activities (where needed) and ensure that regulatory stewardship obligations are implemented in countries.
  • Maintain and cultivate cross-functional stewardship networks regarding unintended trait presence (AP/LLP) within the region; ensure sharing of best practices and facilitate information exchange between sub-regions and countries.
  • Provide stewardship support related to seed movement topics (treated seed, phytosanitary, unintended trait presence).
  • Drive the network of local stewardship managers and ensure that risk mitigation measures and best practices are understood and implemented.
  • Successfully drive compliance programs (ETS, GSG).
  • Manage/coordinate effective handling of seed product incidents with support of the Bayer Stewardship Community, avoiding or minimizing financial and reputational impact to the maximum possible extent; promote and train local stewardship managers to report incidents in a consistent and compliant manner.
  • Guide S&T stewardship into Velocity, Intelex and other digital platforms in close consultation with global SCQ. Identify, implmenet and accelerate other digitalization opportunities relevant for Seed& Trait Stewardship
  • Implement strategies to manage insect resistance for our BT-product portfolio. Establish intense working relationship with regional leads on Resistance Management, Market Development, Field Solution functions and third-party scientist.
  • Assure the technical accuracy of stewardship-related information on Bayer seed labels, technical bulletins and other product communications together in the network with local regulatory and stewardship managers and related functions.
  • Establish intense working relationship with Public Affairs to seek, foster, and strengthen relationships with relevant external organizations and stakeholders. Communicate to internal and external stakeholders about regulatory stewardship initiatives and achievements at regional and local level.
  • Represent Bayer actively in regional industry associations as appropriate and drive BCS view on stewardship industry-wide.

Who you are

  • University degree (Master or PHD) in agricultural or biological sciences, plus 10 years of experience within a relevant or seed-related industry.
  • Strong in coordinating complex activities involving multiple stakeholders and in developing effective relationships.
  • Digital acumen and drive; sees digitalization as a way to render systems and processes more efficient/accurate and drives the transformation within the perimeter of his/her responsibility.
  • Proven experience in influencing and winning support from others and in people management.
  • Works with a sense of urgency, identifies and overcomes obstacles, takes necessary risks.
  • Familiarity with EMEA Seed and Trait, gene editing regulatory sensitivities and societal regulatory obstacles and perceptions.
  • Makes sound, timely decisions and confidence to select an appropriate approach, taking full responsibility for end results.
