Qualifications- Master’s degree in (electro-) chemistry, materials science, physics, chemical/materials engineering, electrical/mechanical engineering from a reputed institute
- Work or internship experience in market research, market analysis, supply and demand analysis, price analysis, economic analysis or database building and/or in a battery related laboratory/company
- Interest in learning about the technology and industry dynamics of the battery sector
- Superior problem-solving and analytical skills
- Willing to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
- Self-motivated and service-orientated work ethic
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills
You will help develop a pioneering solution on batteries to contribute to one of the key enablers of a low carbon economy.
In your role, you will research battery assets, their technology and product strategy, to help maintain and develop comprehensive knowledge base on batteries and gigafactories. You will also analyse the manufacturing and recycling operations in depth in order to develop a deep understanding of product and market.
Additionally, you will participate in McKinsey’s knowledge-building efforts by creating knowledge packs around your focus area, and over time have the opportunity to lead a small team of researchers. You will work closely with global consulting teams to bring the best of Battery Insights knowledge to clients and help develop analysis-based recommendations to shape one of the fastest growing industries of our times.
Who You’ll Work With
You will be based in our Munich or Brussels office as part of our dynamic Battery Insights team.
Our entrepreneurial team of researchers and consultants supports companies around the world along the entire value chain - from raw material producers, battery cell and component manufacturers, to automotive and industrial companies, and recycling players.
Battery Insights is a collaboration of McKinsey’s Sustainability, Basic Material and Advanced Industries practices. As a team, we tackle industry-shaping questions around battery technology and market trends How will battery and component cost develop in the future? How will supply and demand dynamics influence the speed of electrification? What is the impact of battery technology on sustainability and carbon emissions?
To answer these questions, you will help build an integrated McKinsey asset that leverages advanced analytics modelling and cutting-edge industry expertise.
