As Senior Mechanical Designer you are part of Barco’s Healthcare organization. You maintain close contacts internally and externally with:
  • suppliers, manufacturers, certification organizations;
  • Other employees of the project team through weekly project meetings.

Together with your team, you design the housings and carriers for the newly developed screen solution. Both metal and plastic designs and their combinations are being developed. As a senior you combine working on specific products with technical support for your team.

The following tasks are addressed in the development of new products.
  • Designing carriers and housings for the products based on system specifications; design for manufacturability.
  • Determining the final product specifications, the bill of material including the availability of any new components;
  • Coordinate the production of molds with the supplier, compose the prototype yourself;
  • Verify and test the mechanical parts in accordance with specifications and provide the necessary reports;
  • Help with the start-up in production for the first-off series;
  • Cost efficiency of production, technical requirements and a beautiful look go together;
  • Be involved in discussing the planning, resources and budgets for the products / projects;
  • In addition, you develop ideas yourself that can form the basis for an improvement of the services and internal operation.

Qualifications
  • Master or equivalent through experience;
  • Five years of industrial design experience;
  • Design knowledge of plastic and sheet material;
  • Thorough knowledge of Dutch and English;
  • Very good knowledge of Pro-E and Microsoft Office.
