For our Site Based Team in Beringen - Belgium we are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer

Purpose

Responsibilities

You will provide mechanical engineering services to Worley’ and its Customers’, including technical support and supervision within the mechanical engineering team as described below:

• Manage and deliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley’, its Customers’ and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
• Initiate and manage mechanical engineering project requirements.
• Manage and perform mechanical engineering services such as:
• participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and comply with required checking procedures
• ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes
• provide assistance on and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, oversee requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase order preparation, including follow-up
• Coordinate and participate in the development of mechanical engineering man-hours estimates.
• Monitor the man-hour budget, staffing plan, and schedule to ensure that project objectives are met, and execution is within the approved mechanical man-hours budget.
• Act as the lead mechanical engineer on specific projects:
• supervise and direct mechanical personnel assigned to the dedicated project
  

outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, assign tasks and supervise progress

• ensure all engineering and design work performed adheres to quality, cost and schedule requirements
• ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner
• conduct weekly status meetings with the complete dedicated mechanical team to convey project news, assess and discuss project issues, coordinate/plan key milestone efforts, etc…
• ensure all design work conforms to the design codes and standards used by the Customers’, or to agreed industry standards
• Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customers’ requirements.
• Coordinate and cooperate with the lead engineers of other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of all information in the project task force, and to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
• Assist and support junior personnel within the mechanical engineering team.
• Communicate effectively with and within the mechanical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
• Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
• Establish and maintain proper interface with Customers’ representatives throughout the life of the project.
  
  

Technical And Industry Experience

• Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its Customers’.
• Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields such as piping, electrical, instrumentation and civil.
• Extensive knowledge base in heat transfer equipment, pressure vessels, columns, and familiar with rotating equipment and machinery package units (experience in solids and/or material handling is a plus).
• Knowledge of European Directives such as PED, among others.
• Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and mechanical engineering specific software.
• Experience in refinery, petrochemical, fine chemicals.
• Experience in quality control requirements, equipment inspection, workshop performance testing of equipment and packages.
• Substantial technical land practical experience in mechanical engineering in the same or similar industry including experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
• Familiar with the various project phases and the scope/deliverables required for each phase.
  
  

Education, Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

• Job specific knowledge: Relevant experience.
• Education: A recognized and relevant mechanical engineering degree.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills (speaking and writing).
• Language skills: Fluent in Dutch ((native language) and English.
• People skills: Strong team player.
  
  

Other Essentials

• Workshare experience.
• Keen safety awareness.
• May require travel to other Worley offices, Customer’s jobsites and/or manufacturing locations.
• Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility.
