Job DescriptionThe Project Manager will lead end-to-end (from project definition to commissioning) capital industrial asset projects within Europe, with a primary focus on our Belgian sites. She/He will lead (in the matrix) a multidisciplinary team towards the project’s cost schedule and scope targets achievement.
The Capex Project Manager will also contribute to the development of our project management team, system and standards, and ensure (on yearly rollover among the team) the PMO function for capital investments.
YOUR CHALLENGE
- Lead all engineering, permitting, purchasing, construction, inspection, cold & hot testing, and hand-over activities of the project.
- Ensure (technical and managerial) coordination and communication among the project stakeholders, both internal (process & technologies, operations, maintenance, quality, HSE, purchasing, finance…) and external (engineering office, suppliers, contractors, third parties…).
- Conduct all relevant project reviews with the participation of key team members: design, operability & maintainability, process hazards analysis, constructability…
- Align with Carmeuse standards and best practices.
- Support and challenge business, operations & technology groups in defining business cases and alternatives.
- Conduct engineering studies, including appropriate tendering, prepare the CAPEX documentation (budget within +/- 10% accuracy) and request project approval(s).
- Prepare comprehensive project management plan, including risk analysis and master schedule showing key milestones and critical path.
- With the assistance of purchasing, qualified engineering, suppliers & construction firms, develop RFP/RFQ’s, evaluate bid proposals, and place recommendations, contracts and purchase orders.
- Coordinate the selected suppliers/contractors, including Goods Receipts, invoices verification, change control and contract close-outs.
- Control, report and take all necessary actions to maintain project performances against scope, quality, HSS&E, budget and schedule original plan.
- Arrange for FAT of key process equipment prior to delivery.
- Manage Construction Management, Safety Coordination, Quantity Surveying, and Quality Control of site activities.
- Perform inspections, cold and hot testing of the project.
- Ensure the close-out of project punch lists.
- Ensure equipment technical files are transferred to the maintenance department.
- Obtain hand-over(s) (formally transferring care, custody, and control of the completed project) to the operation team.
- Prepare closeout reports and financially close the project in collaboration with Finance.
- Coordinate weekly project team meetings.
- Issue monthly project status reports.
- Prepare and present the project status to the steering committee.
- Ensure HSS&E matters (design, construction and start-up) of the project are managed at the highest standards in compliance with laws and company policies.
Experience
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (process, electro-mechanical, civil…).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience of demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in executing construction capital projects, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Good level of French and English
- Knowledge of Carmeuse’s specific technologies (quarry, stone processing/transport, kiln…) is a plus
- Project management methodologies
- Industrial asset and operations
- PC knowledge (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project)
- Knowledge of SAP, AutoCAD and PowerBI are plus
- Strong leadership (in a matrix organization and by influence) and the ability to build relationships
- Planning and organization skills

- Highly efficient with the ability to work under pressure
- Results-oriented, problem-solving mindset and field presence
- Capability to understand and challenge technological, process and operational aspects of the project
- HSS&E oriented, familiar with constructions safety (LOTOTO, permits, inspection…)
