POSITION SUMMARY

Where development meets consultancy…

Are you technical oriented, but with a heart for communication and customer collaboration, then this could be a job for you!

In your function of Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for the implementation of integration projects to connect our customer with their business partners. Your day-to-day tasks will vary and consists of mapping development (XSLT), configuration and consultancy towards our customers (mainly remote). You will be working on multiple projects and different customers (each using their own internal systems) simultaneously, in other words, varied and interesting work. You will be part of the EMEA Professional Services team and co-operate closely with other teams such as Sales, Product Development and Customer Service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You are responsible for setting up, maintain and extend the B2B system for our customers
• You communicate with our customers and analyse, design and implement their needs
• You create mappings between different file formats (XML, ASCII, EDI standards) using various tools, mainly XSLT
• You setup connections and configure the needed message flows between our customers and their trading partners
• You consult and train customers on B2B & EDI messaging possibilities
• You will specialize in 1 or more functional area’s
• You are a central source of technical knowledge and will assist other Descartes teams like Sales and Customer Service.

SKILLS AND ATTITUDE

• Engineering degree or other technical discipline or relevant experience in this area.
• You set a high level of quality in your development and technical implementation
• You are customer focussed and maintain customer contact via mail, phone and onsite visits
• You are able to handle multiple projects and can work independently as well as in team.
• You are willing to learn

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

• General development skills and general knowledge of file structures.
• The list below is more specific, we will provide the necessary training for these topics
  • More specific file structures like XML & EDIFACT
  • XSLT knowledge (or experience with other translators)
  • Communication protocols like FTP(s), HTTP(s), AS2, Webservices
• Experience in one of the below functional areas is an asset
  • Retail and Do It Yourself
  • Transport and Logistics
  • Government
  • Port Systems

LANGUAGES

You are fluent in Dutch and English. Proficiency in French is an advantage.

LOCATION

You work either from home or at our offices in the Benelux. You are willing to travel abroad and visit either our customers’ premises or other Descartes’ offices.
