Main Responsibilities
TASK DESCRIPTION
Non-exhaustive list of the tasks to be carried out in the scope of the contract.
The Process Automation specialist will contribute to RSP Office activities, such as:
  • Identifying COTS workflow automation platforms (SAP, ServiceNow, MS Power Automate,
UiPaths, etc.) that could complement the corporate process automation tool Compass Corporate
  • Identifying use cases for such platforms in the Commission
  • Contributing to feasibility analysis of customers interested in process automation tools
  • Providing insight on how workflows implementation / execution could span multiple tools
  • Elaborating on the principles and best practices of use of process automation, RPA and AI hyper automation in the Commission
  • Collaborate with the other RSP+ supporting teams to facilitate coherent evolution of the
portfolio towards increased use of COTS
  • Identify and contribute to PoCs with COTS for process automation
  • Contribute to the DSMP Process Automation cluster activities; assist in achieving clusters

  • Collaborate with Compass Corporate (the Commission’s corporate solution for proces
automation) on boarding team and with BPM@EC to enable seamless process streamlining and automation on boarding for interested customers
  • Liaise with partners in DIGIT and other DGs that conduct projects relating to use of COTS process automation and RPA tools
  • Contribute to the corporate effort to define the criteria for identifying the added value of the
COTS process automation platforms and their positioning in relation with the current IT landscape
  • Contribute to clarifying the positioning of the Compass Corporate in relation with the COTS for process automation
Successful Candidate

REQUIRED EXPERTISE
1. Experience in process automation methods and tools
2. Strong knowledge and experience with BPMN 2.0
3. Experience in projects undertaking integration of solutions and components in a multiplatform landscape (in-house / COTS as well as open source, on premises / cloud)
4. Very Good knowledge of Development lifecycle and agile methodology
5. Ability to work with a high degree of rigour and method
6. Ability to grasp new concepts and understand new and complex domains very fast
7. Rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working
8. Ability to apply high quality standards
9. Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, excellent communicator
10. Technical writing skills in English
11. Very Good knowledge of English (spoken, written).
12. Excellent collaboration, communication and inter-personal skills
13. Due to the particular nature of a large international organisation such as the European
Commission, candidates should also have the following non-technical skills:
– Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, on large projects
– Ability to participate in multilingual meetings
Integration Architects focus on integration technologies that enable application and process integrations.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE
1. Strong expertise in process streamlining and automation at the technical, business or
management level, familiarity with the contemporary tools and techniques for process automation
2. Strong expertise on COTS for Process Automation (MS Power Platform, SAP, Service Now)
3. Strong expertise, based on practical hands-on experience, with the hybrid cloud integration of COTS platforms such as SAP, MS Power Platform, ServiceNow, with the existing organisational IT landscape, including both:
a. modern, “cloud native” SaaS (hosted externally)
b. legacy on-premise IT systems (hosted in house)
4. Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application architecture and design

OTHER PRECISIONS
We are looking for service provider with
  • Experience as stated in the framework contract for the regarded profile
  • Proven required and specific experience as described above
  • Rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working
  • Ability to do presentations in front of large and varied audiences
  • Good planner, able to follow more than one subject at a time
  • Proactive attitude, communicative (i.e. good listener) and customer/result oriented
  • Able to deal mainly with technical stakeholders, but at the same time sensitive to the business side of Information Systems
  • With strong analytical skills
  • With a good deal of common sense and strong organisational skills
  • With good communication, drafting and presentation skills
  • Understanding, speaking and writing English (at least B2 level) (French is an asset)
The following are considered advantages:
  • In depth knowledge of enterprise architecture.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework).
  • Knowledge of ARIS (BPM tool).
  • Experience in the field of modernization of a complex organization.
  • Experience with Agile@EC / SaFE
  • Familiarity with JIRA Issues & Project Tracking
  • Experience with methodologies and standards such as ITIL and Prince2
  • Experience in both business and IT
  • Experience in public service organisations
Given the necessity to readily become operational in the Commission context, the following are considered significant advantages:
  • Experience with middleware integration platforms
  • Experience with micro-services, macro-services and event-management based architectures
  • Experience with the Commission’s Reusable Solutions Platform, in particular with Compass
Corporate
  • Familiarity with the Commission’s systems such as Single Digital Gateway, SUMMA, eGrants, eProcurement, ARES, COMREF, SYSPER, etc.
  • Familiarity with CoRA (Corporate Reference Architecture) and EIRA (European Interoperability Reference Architecture)
Additional qualifications:
  • University degree relevant to the mission
