Smart Technics is an innovative startup within the Colruyt Group (the largest Belgian retailer with over 30.000 employees) headquartered in Halle, Belgium.
Smart Technics focusses on becoming the gateway for the Colruyt Group in regards to automation and digitization of the full supply chain (from the store, logistics to manufacturing and farming).
Smart Technics is growing fast and counts today about 30 engineers and IT experts. We are devoted to robotics, engineering, artificial intelligence and automation projects and work on solutions that should become the standard in the next 10 years in retail and logistics operations. With this pioneering work, we apply new technologies in use cases and make sure that together with the business we keep Colruyt Group future-proof.
About the function of "Technology Manager":
As a "Technology Manager” within Smart Technics, you lead a team of experts devoted to innovation with technology. You will be taking in the newest technology threads through research and collaboration with technology driven partner companies while supporting proof of concepts that lead to pilots and industrialization to benefit our business operations. Together with your team, you will affect the direction of Smart Technics greatly.
Your tasks in a nutshell:
- You will work in close partnership with the Managing Director and will play an important role in the technological path and strategy that Smart Technics will further develop in the coming years.
- As a Technology Manager, you have a coordinating role. You work with several business partners, within and outside the Colruyt Group, and you optimize your workflows and processes to realize a more efficient environment. You support the growth of your team in knowledge and size to support 50+ projects.
- You organize the resource planning for all projects together with the Project Managers and make sure the deadlines are met. Internal, as well as external resources make up the whole and must be kept within budget.
- You invest in the development and retention of technical knowledge and you pay attention to the required skills of the projects within the roadmap so that you can provide technical resource and capability leadership and proactively can manage professional expertise development within the team.
- Coaching your co-workers is an essential part of your job. You make sure they can do their work and develop their know-how and expertise in the best circumstances. As a result, they are happy to do their job and you help them realize their goals. At the same time, you back them in their personal growth.
- You help to develop knowledge and know-how in your team and you evaluate your co-workers.
Location:You will work in Halle and can work remotely 1 or 2 days a week.
Your profile:
- Knowledge and experience - You have 15 to 25 years of experience of which 5 years overseeing IT or technology projects and you can stand your ground in challenging and dynamic contexts. Experience in IT architecture and/or a technical education as an engineer is a must. A background in innovation is a bonus.
- Organization and planning - A complex organization does not deter you. You create a clear structure and planning to manage your team in the best possible way. You are goal-oriented.
- Enthusiasm and communication skills - You are enterprising, dynamic and enthusiastic. You know how to mobilize people to enthuse them to help land projects with a favorable conclusion.
- Analytical insight - You can think strategically, you are solution-oriented and you have an eye for simplicity and efficiency in processes.
- Flexibility - You quickly adapt to new project needs or other changes.
- People manager - You want to create a close, smoothly running team and you know how to achieve this. You reassure people with a clear plan of action and thus create a stable, coaching environment. You create a bond of trust with your team. You have high empathy and communicate openly with your team.
- Languages - You communicate fluently in Dutch and English so that you are able to cooperate well with all your colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
