About the Unit
The Corporate Affairs and Global Initiatives team reports to the Deputy CEO and plays an instrumental role in ensuring a global holistic vision and direction for the company on sustainability and stakeholder relations. The team serves as an important advisor to the CEO and senior management on government relations, regulatory processes, multilateral solutions and engagement with NGOs. It works in close collaboration with the other corporate functions and business areas.
The Green Deal has added a new dimension to the European public affairs work. Upcoming regulations will reshape Yara’s business environment and are crucial for reaching Yara’s decarbonization goals of a 60% reduction in scope 1 emissions in 2030 and of climate neutrality in 2050. The role’s responsibilities include analyzing the upcoming legislation from sustainability, technical, commercial and trade perspectives, positioning Yara in European sector associations and implementing Yara’s advocacy plans. The role also includes positioning Yara’s views on selected social media relevant for EU policy debates.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze policy developments:
- Monitor arising issues, analyze the regulatory proposals and keep internal stakeholders informed of key aspects
- Collaborate with the Yara business development teams to identify the main techno-economic parameters
- Perform qualitative and quantitative impact analyses assessing how different regulatory scenarios will influence Yara’s business.
- Contribute and prepare the company’s regulatory response, including the development of position papers
- Initiate and operationalize public affairs initiatives and align them with Yara’s overall communication and positioning plans
- Support Yara corporate and different business units with advocacy and public representation as a strategic tool
- Identify relevant fora to enhance visibility, networking and strategic advocacy. Promote and present corporate and local positions on these fora.
- Prepare and manage communications on social media
- Support media handling and event organization
Profile
- Bachelor or Master’s degree from a globally leading university or equivalent experience.
- Public Affairs and/ or Institutional experience with EU, preferably with a focus on climate and energy issues.
- Minimum three to five years of relevant experience
- The ideal candidate has a background combining both political (comms) acumen and an analytical (scientific, environmental or commercial) approach to solutions
- Strategic capabilities and analytic mindset. Supportive of systems transformation, able to manage complex projects with a sense of urgency, team worker with an open-minded, entrepreneurial, and cooperative working attitude.
- Independent working with a structured approach. Able to quickly extract the essence of complicated issues and link them to our key priorities and their main challenges and possibilities.
- Strong communicative skills. The ability to interact with stakeholders internally and externally, with a “can-do” attitude, achieving results with precision, creativity, and impact.
- Fluent in English, knowledge of additional European language(s) would be an asset

The position is permanent, based in Brussels, Belgium and will report to the Head of EU Public Affairs & Industry Relations.
