Customs Specialist Europe

About the Unit


Customs Specialist Europe is responsible to ensure compliance with Customs Regulations and Foreign Trade Law in the region Europe.


In this role the Subject Matter Expert is coordinating, supporting and monitoring the different local entities and customs functions at the operational units (e.g., plants, supply chain, EBS). The role promotes collaboration and continuous improvement throughout the customs functions at the different units.

Responsibilities


  • Be the competent sparring partner to all stakeholders (Plants, Supply Chain, EBS, etc.)
  • Coordinating with customs offices, customs agents and advisors (SPOC)
  • Establish and monitor compliant work process in respect to Long-Term Supplier Declarations (LTSD), also ensure working procedures and organizational instructions are established for local customs functions
  • Ensure compliance with Customs Regulations and Foreign Trade Law
  • Import and export: advice units on permits and simplifications (AEO C/S, etc.), establish lean and efficient customs clearance, lower customs duties, increase liquidity in the import process
  • Advice and monitor master data team on Customs Tariff Classifications (HS Code, Customs Tariff Number)
  • Execute annual internal audits (e.g. imports, exports, permits) at local customs functions and support local customs during external audits

Profile


  • Bachelor degree in business administration (ideally with a specialization in customs and foreign trade law) or any equal education / training in the field of customs
  • Experienced knowledge of Foreign Trade Law, origin of goods and preferences, customs tariffs and export controls
  • Minimun 3 years of experience in customs clearance and customs law
  • Good understanding of Customs Regulations (European Customs Code)
  • Innovative with continuous improvement and development mindset, and with openness for new developments, especially for automation and digitization
  • Proficient MS Office skills, experienced in SAP is an asset
  • Strong networking, teaming, communication and interpersonal skills, proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams

  • This position can be based anywhere in Europe where Yara office is located
  • Some infrequent travel required
