HEAD OF CONTROLLING (RETAIL)

For our client, a renowned Belgian company based in the Brussels region, we are currently looking for a Head of Controlling.

Position summary

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will become responsible for a controlling team composed of 2 experienced controllers and will oversee a vast retail finance team. The impact of your endeavors will result in the development of higher reporting, cost controlling and cash management standards. Moreover, you will become a driver of various finance projects and a trusted business adviser for the leadership team.

Principal accountabilities

• Set up of the yearly budget, forecast cycle and 5-year plan in accordance with the group norms and framework.
• Manage the monthly aggregation of financial and business data from all retail entities to compile a clear and comprehensive business overview.
• Budget follow up and performance measurement of critical indicators such as operational results, margins and billings.
• Act as sparring partner and trusted business advisor for the leadership team in terms of financial performance and contribute actively to the realization of strategic objectives.
• Gather all project requests, define the priorities and challenge the project’s business cases.
• Plan, organize and follow up the progression of running projects to ensure that pre-defined objectives are met.
• Set up and implement tools, best practices and efficient processes that will lead to the optimal functioning of the department.
• Develop, coach and mentor the team members in order to utilize their full potential and ensure their professional growth and evolution.
• Participate actively to the implementation of a new controlling and BI tool.
• Design clear dashboards that contain all data and information required by the leadership team for making sound business decisions.
• Ad hoc projects related to future due diligence and/or M&A activity.

Your profile:

• You hold a University Degree in Finance or Business Administration.
• You have at least 10 to 15 years of experience in Financial and/or Business Controlling.
• You have worked in larger corporations and can deal with complex business environments.
• Experience in a retail environment is a clear asset.
• An audit-background with a big4 company is an asset as well.
• You have excellent analytical skills and can summarize big amounts of information into concise and structured presentations.
• You have knowledge of the IFRS norms.
• You are able to challenge the business in a diplomatic but decisive way.
• You have a very good knowledge of Dutch and French.
• You have developed project management skills.
• You are a natural born problem solver and have excellent analytical skills.
• You already reside in Belgium, preferably in the Brussels region.
