Our hybrid working policy allows homeworking for up to 60%.

About the role

As our new IT Industrial Engineer colleague, you are part of the IT Industrial Solutions team and have the opportunity to develop yourself in the near future to lead the external consultants, by supporting, coaching and mentoring them. In this role you will envision the future of industrial infrastructure, partner with stakeholders to run and implement technical solutions, lead technical projects and with your practical knowledge you’re able to take technical decisions. Next to this you will prepare and execute the IT transformation of our industrial landscape and be a referent and leader during the journey through Industry 4.0. Team

You will become part of the IT Industrial Team of 6 internal colleagues. In the IT Industrial Solutions team you will work with about 4 external consultants, who are now guided and managed by the manager, however, this could be a task you are able to pick up in the near future if you have leadership aspirations. You will report to the Data Centre & Industrial Solution Lead. And with global UCB IT being mostly based and driven from Belgium, you are at the heart of where UCB IT decisions are made.

What you’ll do

• Manage transformation projects and support business initiatives with the help of teams of subject matter experts and project managers. Manage budgets to deliver project and industrial infrastructure.
• Solution advisory, Solution Engineering and design (developing and realizing a long-term view from vision to tactical technical solutions for the IT landscape in scope)
• Formulate rules, principles and guidelines to drive the development of technical solutions and monitor adherence.
• Survey market landscape for latest trends, solution insights, vendors and methods
• Solution development and delivery (Across teams, clients, partners and the IT industry).
• Suggest alternative tactics or solutions to meet desired and reusable outcome.
• Keeps infrastructure coordinators and project managers well informed of the status of development effort.
• Apply best practices of the industry, review and improve it with the architecture board.
• Responsible for Development and Platform lifecycle.

• Experience in an IT Infrastructure role within a large and complex environment including VMWare, NSX, Netapp and other infrastructure technologies.
• Working knowledge of industrial applications is huge advantage (DCS, MES, EMS, LIMS,…)
• Working knowledge of cyber security, firewalling, purdue model, network segmentation, SIEM.
• Significant knowledge and understanding of all Datacenter/Clouds system architecture, platform and technologies.
• Good understanding of how manufacturing, laboratory and industry work is a plus.
• Have the future aspiration to lead teams and extend your leadership.
• Curious and passionate about how different pieces fit together into a coherent solution.
• Knowledge of IT service management and project management framework and processes (PMI, ITIL, PRINCE…).
• Strong social and communication skills.
• Fluent in French or English, other languages are an advantage to have.
