For one of our clients located in the Walloon Brabant, we are recruiting a (Junior) Clinical Data Scientist - Bioinformatics Consultant to support the bioinformatic deployment of the Next Generation Sequencing technology for investigation and QC testing of commercial products, as well as the IT environment readiness.
This position is open to candidates with a PhD in Bioinformatics or in Computer Science, who already have worked with NGS Technologies and who would like to pursue a career in the industry.

Job Description

As Clinical Data Scientist - Bioinformatics Consultant, you perform bioinformatic analysis and contribute to the development of bioinformatics pipelines and tools to facilitate the analysis of massive High-throughput sequencing data for Vaccines QC.
You also work hand by hand with local QC to map GMP requirements for the implementation of NGS for QC release.

Responsibilities

• You perform advanced bioinformatics activities in support of QC projects and deliver high-quality results of those activities to internal stakeholders (e.g. lab scientists, project & function leadership) using analytical pipelines for the analysis of many NGS samples.
• Perform Bioinformatics/data analytics activities for Vaccines QC;
• You perform Data and knowledge integration for hypothesis generation;
• You perform Data modelling for innovative assays, high-dimensional readouts and microbial genomics;
• You develop tailor systems and analytical models;
• You develop analysis pipelines using combinations of heterogeneous, high dimensional datasets and tools;
• You advice on experiment design, readout selection and data formats, data analysis strategies;
• You contribute and co-author reports for regulatory authorities, scientific papers, congress reports or other relevant communication material for internal and external stakeholders, and/or for the wider scientific community (when relevant) such synthesis NGS data for internal technical teams and reports
• You map GMP requirements for the implementation of NGS in QC
• You support the validation of the bioinformatics pipelines
• You ensure the readiness of the informatic and IT environment for NGS use in QC release

Profile

• You have a PhD in Bioinformatics or in Computer Science
• You have experience or can demonstrate publication record in one of more of the following areas : computational and molecular epidemiology; bioinformatics and genomics; systems vaccinology and immuno-informatics; data mining and machine learning; computational/dynamic modelling.
• You have experimental knowledge in molecular biology, especially about use of Next Generation Sequencing Technologies in diverse contexts (Virology, Bacteriology, Cell Biology)
• You are proficient in using R and Bioconductor packages, at least one scripting language (Python, Perl), and SQL
• You have experience working with Linux high performance compute clusters and cloud-based computing platforms
• You have a knowledge of commercial and publicly available biological databases including NCBI, Ensembl, ArrayExpress/GEO, SRA, TCGA, 1000 Genomes etc.
• You are fluent in English, French is an asset
• Existing right to work in Belgium is required
