The Lab Technician Pharmacoloy will play a crucial role in our drug screening laboratory, bringing over 5 years of experience in drug screening, lab automation, and Health Safety Environment control in the laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will assume lab manager responsibilities, overseeing lab organization, maintenance, biosafety, continuous improvement, logistics, stock management, ordering, and deliveries. Curiosity and openness to novel techniques and lab equipment investments that can enhance lab performance are essential. Additionally, the candidate will perform routine screening activities and manage data recording in electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and screen results databases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Laboratory Management, maintenance and automation:

• Oversee the organization and maintenance of the drug screening laboratory.
• Ensure continuous improvement of lab processes and procedures.
• Manage logistics, stock levels, and ordering of supplies and equipment. Hands-on experience with a LIMS system is a plus.
• Coordinate ordering, purchase and deliveries.
• Utilize lab automation devices for drug screening assays.
• Perform regular maintenance, calibration, and quality control (QC) of lab equipment.
• Identify and implement novel techniques and equipment to enhance lab performance and efficiency.
• Evaluate and invest in new lab technologies that improve return on investment.
• Maintain high standards of quality control and assurance in all lab activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in laboratory operations, including biosafety.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to uphold lab standards.

Drug screening

• Execute routine drug screening activities following established protocols.
• Experience with cell culture is a must. Other lab techniques/assay experience is a plus.
• Record and manage screening results in electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and screening results databases.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of experimental data.

Team Collaboration and Training

• Collaborate with scientists and other lab members to support drug discovery projects.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the lab team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related life sciences field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a drug screening laboratory.
• Extensive experience with lab automation devices, including maintenance and calibration.
• Strong background in quality control (QC) and biosafety.
• Proven ability to manage laboratory operations, logistics, and stock management.
• Curiosity and openness to new techniques and equipment that can enhance lab performance.
• Proficiency in using electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and screening results databases.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
