Augustine Therapeutics is a pharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing innovative HDAC6 inhibitor medicines for patients with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), peripheral neuropathies, neurodegenerative disorders & cardio-metabolic diseases. Responsibilities

The Senior/Principal Scientist will play a critical role in our drug discovery and development efforts, leveraging their expertise in both synthetic and medicinal chemistry. With a PhD and 5-10 years of experience in small molecule drug discovery, the ideal candidate will run projects within the Augustine Therapeutics pipeline. Familiarity with CNS drug design, structure-based drug design, PET tracer development, patent drafting, grant application writing and working with external parties is a plus. The therapeutic area of expertise will be in the neuroscience, cardiology, or metabolic disease space. The candidate must demonstrate a proven track record of leadership within a medicinal chemistry team, the ability to learn fast and adapt in a dynamic semi-virtual environment, a hands-on and can-do attitude.

Qualifications

PhD in (Medicinal) Chemistry or Pharmacy.

5-10 years of experience in drug discovery.

Knowledge of state-of-the art synthetic organic chemistry and outstanding synthetic troubleshooting skills.

Experience with interpreting both in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies.

Proven track record of research and expertise in medicinal chemistry, preferably in a relevant therapeutic area (neuroscience, cardiology, or metabolic diseases).

Excellent project management and leadership skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation abilities.

Effective communication and scientific writing skills.

Experience with predictive models and AI tools is a plus.
