In Belgium, our client is one of the top FMCG food companies, and their Brands are iconic for their tastes, anchored so fundamentals in the Belgian culture, as well as for their fun & out of the box communication tone of voice.

Recently, they’ve become part of one of the fastest-growing European Food companies with the motto to “celebrate local flavours”. This means that the Group is supporting the local entities with their international expertise while leaving a wide autonomy to the national teams. It’s actually ‘the Heaven’ of the marketers capable of working with international experts and sizable budgets on the total Marketing Mix.

In Belgium, the Marketing Team is composed of 20+ people led by the Marketing & Trade Marketing Director. Directly reporting to her, we’ve been assigned to recruit a:

Marketing Manager Belgian Brands

Your mission

Reporting to the Marketing Director, you’ll create and implement the strategic 3-5Y marketing plan for each brand in your portfolio while challenging the status quo and identifying white spots. You’ll be the owner of the brands from developing future proof innovation to in-market 360* marketing execution with full P&L responsibility and budget ownership.

To assist you in your tasks, you can count on a team of 2-3 Brand Marketers, that will require from you clear guidance and business priority setting. To help you choose your battle, you’ll closely monitor the categories development and brands marketing performances. The importance of driving top-and bottom-line growth while building on the Brands equity should be a constant trigger of your judgment.

Your responsibilities

  • Identify and work towards customer & consumer purchasing behaviour.
  • Conduct brand audits and regular market analysis (Nielsen, GFK) to have a deep understanding of brand measures, competition and media positioning.
  • Create a brand vision, positioning and strategy. Identify key risks and opportunities and make recommendations on how to tackle them.
  • Develop innovation pipeline (up to 5 years) taking into account both consumer insights and retailer priorities/needs.
  • Define brands KPIs’s, measure & evaluation, propose and implement corrective actions
  • Lead development of retailer concept sells and support KAM with the preparation of top-to-top /yearly budget negotiation etc.
  • Manage and own brands P&L and all ATL/BTL investments. Keep an overview of trade spend by the retailer, ownership of budget is with KAM.
  • Manage agencies and ensure consistent and on-briefing execution.
  • Act as a true expert on brands and categories for the organization. Lead preparation business meetings and management reviews.
  • Be the liaison in the multi-functional team (esp. R&D, sales, marketing, finance, logistics).

What we’re looking for?

  • The jobholder must have a university degree in economics and marketing or equivalent thanks to experience, and substantial marketing experience with a big autonomy on strategy, positioning and advertising.
  • He/she should have Brand development and Brand building experience and knowledge of the Belgian retail environment.
  • He/she has a good general knowledge of management, analytical skills and good commercial feeling.
  • Ability to set a vision and motivate multi-functional and good communication/language skills (Dutch, French, English).
  • Experience within FMCG is a plus. Affinity with food is a prerequisite.
