PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Validates new processes (painting, gluing, sealing) before production start, with regard to technology, technique and equipment.

Key Responsabilities
  • Determination of the design/manufacturing requirements.
  • Review of the product requirements.
  • Review of the design in function of corrosion protection.
  • Validates new processes of surface treatment, bonding and sealing before starting production, taking into account:
  • All industrial aspects:
    • installations and equipment.
    • lead times and cadences.
    • working conditions in the industrial environment (temperature, humidity, working position of the operator, accessibility, …).
    • products and processes used (paints, adhesives, sealants, etc.).
    • evaluation of the capability of the processes: are the requirements (average and spread of the, filler thickness, paint layer thickness, ...) feasible in an industrial chain.
  • Safety, health.
  • Environment.
  • Productivity.
  • Quality.
  • Validation of the subcontractors.
  • Defining installations and equipment.
  • Defining the materials to be used.
  • Monitor the painting quality.
  • Monitoring the process parameters.
  • Conduct research regarding new technologies, equipment and materials.
  • Preparing painting audits.
  • Create and validate recovery procedures.
  • Participation in design and method reviews.
  • Prepares the technical documentation for the production in addition to and in support of the work instructions (procedures).
  • In the event of deviating process parameters in current, validated processes (technologies, techniques, equipment), which have been identified during Q-audits, investigate the causes and consequences, make technical assessments and make proposals to adjust the process and to correct.
  • Follow the market evolution (specialist literature, trade fairs, joint development with suppliers) with regard to new technologies – techniques – equipment to ensure that the site is at all times the most efficient for this specific process.
  • Makes proposals regarding investments with the aim of improving processes.
  • Creates training programs and provides training for the implementation of new processes or for the maintenance of company knowledge.
Qualification
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a relevant role in transport industry (railway industry is definitely a nice to have);
  • Good knowledge on standards related to special processes and material knowledge;
  • Knowledge domains: Chemistry, Connection technology (Glue), Surface treatment (Paint);
  • Specific business specialization: European adhesive engineer (EAE-DVS/EWF 3309), Corrosion Prevention (NACE), Standards;
  • Fluent Dutch and good English are a must have.
