Our client is a Belgian leader in the food sector. To support their organization, the company is looking for a Production Manager Bread. You will be in charge of the production unit where a wide variety of bread products are being produced (excl. sandwiches). Your team will consist of around 50 co-workers, working in 2 shifts during weekdays (6am - 10pm) and completed by a weekend shift.

You will take care of a clear organization and planning of all activities, streamline working methods and ensure team buy-in and cohesion via excellent communication skills in a diverse and demanding work environment. You will replace the previous production manager who left a few months ago and unfortunately his permanent replacement has not yet been finalized.

Function description

  • Oversee production and workforce planning

  • Steer the production plan, and timelines according to production specifications.

  • Plan workflow and schedules for the department.

  • Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery.

  • Identify delays and accordingly adjust schedules to meet deadlines.

  • Assist in production risk assessment and mitigation activities.

  • Evaluate current production processes and recommend improvements.

  • Conduct daily meetings to keep track of production schedules.

  • Ensure that finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications.

  • Resolve production issues and escalate unresolved issues to management promptly.

  • Assist in employee hiring, training, performance evaluation, retention, and termination activities.

Job requirements

  • Min. Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering, complemented by at least 10 years of experience in a managerial position

  • Proven experience in a production environment

  • Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Team player who works well with people from other departments.

  • Hands on manager

  • You make timely decisions and take initiative

  • You are flexible in terms of working hours, and stress resistant. This is not a 9 to 5 job. As your teams work shifts, it is important to regularly be present on the different shifts, including those on weekends

  • Working language is mainly Dutch, good comprehension of French and English is a plus

Interim management assignment with an estimated duration of 6 months for an experienced, well-organized and communicative manager who can rally all team members around a common goal and bring stability to the shop floor.
