Our client is a Belgian leader in the food sector. To support their organization, the company is looking for a Production Manager Bread. You will be in charge of the production unit where a wide variety of bread products are being produced (excl. sandwiches). Your team will consist of around 50 co-workers, working in 2 shifts during weekdays (6am - 10pm) and completed by a weekend shift.
You will take care of a clear organization and planning of all activities, streamline working methods and ensure team buy-in and cohesion via excellent communication skills in a diverse and demanding work environment. You will replace the previous production manager who left a few months ago and unfortunately his permanent replacement has not yet been finalized.
Function description
Oversee production and workforce planning
Steer the production plan, and timelines according to production specifications.
Plan workflow and schedules for the department.
Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery.
Identify delays and accordingly adjust schedules to meet deadlines.
Assist in production risk assessment and mitigation activities.
Evaluate current production processes and recommend improvements.
Conduct daily meetings to keep track of production schedules.
Ensure that finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
Resolve production issues and escalate unresolved issues to management promptly.
Assist in employee hiring, training, performance evaluation, retention, and termination activities.
Job requirements
Min. Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering, complemented by at least 10 years of experience in a managerial position
Proven experience in a production environment
Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles
Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication abilities
Strong interpersonal skills
Team player who works well with people from other departments.
Hands on manager
You make timely decisions and take initiative
You are flexible in terms of working hours, and stress resistant. This is not a 9 to 5 job. As your teams work shifts, it is important to regularly be present on the different shifts, including those on weekends
Working language is mainly Dutch, good comprehension of French and English is a plus
Offer
Interim management assignment with an estimated duration of 6 months for an experienced, well-organized and communicative manager who can rally all team members around a common goal and bring stability to the shop floor.
Organizational and departmental definition
You will report to the Plant Manager.
