The Business Restructuring Services team is part of PwC’s Deals practice that provides buy- and sell-side due diligence, valuation, M&A, and restructuring & (re)financing services. The Business Restructuring Services team focuses on companies and organisations facing financial challenges and deploys all the competences within PwC that are needed to make a success of the restructuring or refinancing assignment.

As a Manager in Business Restructuring Services, you are part of the restructuring team that provides services to companies or organisations that are under financial pressure, or to one or more of their stakeholders. You analyse the situation and the (short-term) liquidity needs and subsequently list the potential restructuring options of your client;

In every step of this process, the BRS Practice uses and integrates the financial and operational know-how and expertise from other PwC practices (such as strategy consulting, valuation, business modelling, transactions, tax, supply chain, legal and so on). This integrated way of thinking and doing is what makes PwC’s market proposition unique and successful.
What you’ll learn and do

As a manager you will work on assignments that involve various financial advisory roles and corporate finance products and industries, including creditor and debtor side restructurings, operational restructuring, debt advisory assignments and distressed mergers & acquisitions. I your role you will:
  • participate in the initial analysis from a strategic, operational and financial point of view.
  • help build and analyse the liquidity forecast and assist management with its cash management process
  • advise clients (debtors, creditors and other stakeholders) in financial but also operational restructuring cases, in and out of court proceedings and insolvencies
  • work on difficult and complex debt refinancing processes and work together with the debt advisory team to fund the restructuring case
  • participate in complex negotiations on behalf of our clients.

The BRS team works together with other Lines of Service in the Deals Team, in particular Transaction Services (due diligence services and valuation services).
Who you are, what you’re like
  • You hold a university degree
  • You have an excellent knowledge of English and either Dutch or French
  • You have at least 5-7 years of work experience in a relevant environment: a recognised restructuring institution or a financial institution’s restructuring/credit workout team
  • Knowledge of research techniques (Debtwire, Factiva, CapIQ, Bloomberg, etc.)
  • Relevant and transferable knowledge of transactions with strong financial modelling skills: 13 week cash flow, DCF, LBO, Comparable Transaction and Company analysis
  • The ability to analyse and assess corporate and capital structures and awareness of legal and credit documentation – leveraged finance, corporate finance, special situation private equity,
  • Presentation skills and fluent (report) writing skills
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and synthesis the findings
  • Valuable corporate banking/finance experience or experience in intensive care units of banks
  • A sound intellect, ability to think and advise at strategic level (standing the “boardroom test” or displaying high capacity to grow into that level)
  • Ability to work within budgetary and time constraints while providing a high-level of client satisfaction
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships between individuals, teams and lines of businesses, as well as with clients and senior management;
  • Strong report writing and presentational skills, highly numerate and quantitative and ability to drive and support change tracks.
