As part of our Epitaxial Technology team, you will be involved in developing Epitaxial Col IV (Si, SiGe, Ge) and emerging material processes and applications in state-of-art integrated device flows. Location

This position is based in ASM’s Corporate R&D research group located at the IMEC campus in Leuven, Belgium.

Take a Closer Look At The Role And Responsibilities
  • Work with semiconductor processing equipment to research, develop and optimize processes focused on Epitaxial deposition of Col IV (Si, SiGe, Ge) and novel emerging materials..
  • Develop new thin film processes and applications of in the areas of Logic and Memory .
  • Design and conduct experiments, measurements and perform the interpretation of complex experimental output.
  • Take a hands-on approach when troubleshooting equipment.
  • Work with other ASM and customers R&D teams to understand and define requirements in order to successfully execute projects and demonstrations.
  • Ensure successful product transfer to customer base by performing process demonstrations, knowledge transfer, and traveling when needed to collaborate with other ASM sites.
  • Deliver creative solutions, create inventions and develop intellectual property.

We could be a great match for each other if:
  • You have a PhD degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science, preferably with a thesis related to the semiconductor or adjacent industries.
  • We’re open to hire PhD graduates fresh out of school, but at ASM we also value professionals with postdoctoral and/or industry experience.
  • You have experience with Epitaxial thin film deposition techniques (CVD, MOCVD, MBE)
  • You have experience with processing, developing and characterizing thin films via techniques such as XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, XRR, XRD, TEM, SEM, electrical characterization and ellipsometry.
  • You have a solid understanding of physics of semiconductor devices.
  • You’re adept with semiconductor wafer processing equipment technology, advanced chemistries and the physics of semiconductor devices and materials.
  • We’re looking for someone to independently manage process development projects.
  • You understand the interplay between hardware design and process outputs.
  • You’re a fast learner, hands on and have a flexible attitude
  • You consider yourself to be someone who enjoys solving problems and driving results.
