Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in an engineering or related discipline; MBA is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in pulp and paper or packaging industry ideally as production or maintenance manager
  • Experience with production data systems from paper mills with understanding and use of advanced analytics in production, maintenance and reliability programs
  • Demonstrated ability to apply information-driven analytic approaches to solve critical operational questions in a practical manner with tangible results
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and in-depth of knowledge/defined involvement in helping frame, design and execute solutions for challenging manufacturing situations to meet business needs
  • Team-orientation and collaborative approach; outstanding listening skills and the ability to manage through influence
  • Comfortable functioning from the shop floor up to the highest levels of client organizations
  • Excellent presentation skills, including strong verbal and writing capabilities
  • Passion for capability building and mentorship

What You’ll Do

You will contribute to the development of the firm capabilities for the Forestry, Pulp & Paper and Packaging industries.

This will include the development of McKinsey proprietary solution, PaperLens, which assists our clients in identifying, quantifying and prioritizing value creation opportunities in their operations using a combination of industry benchmarks, advanced analytics models and industry expertise.

You will play a critical role in developing the solution in high impact areas on the operational value chain (forestry, logging, pulping, digesting, paper making, packaging) and be responsible for database maintenance. You will be involved in operational diagnostic as a solution and industry expert. You will be involved in the short and long term product development strategy and be involved in client development activities.

Who You’ll Work With

You will join our Brussels office as part of the Forestry, Pulp & Paper and Packaging service line of the Basic Material practice.

The Basic Materials practice is organized globally with a focus on basic materials clients along our service lines of steel, base metals, mining and paper & forest products. You will work with global teams all around the world and join our Basic Materials solution team.
