Strategy Director Digital Health and Innovation

Location: GSK House, Stevenage - UK - Philadelphia, USA - Wavre, Rixensart - Belgium.

GSK has a vision to fully leverage Digital Health technologies to generate patient insights that support and accelerate safer and more effective therapies for patients, to get ahead of disease together.

The DH&I Strategy Director will drive the development of GSK’s Digital Health & Innovation Strategy(ies), in partnership with key stakeholders from across the enterprise, to enable the successful development and launch of priority GSK therapies. This role will sit within the DH&I Strategy team in R&D Digital and Tech, whose focus is to evaluate emerging technologies in Digital Health and to drive the definition of a scalable operating blueprint to enable adoption of Digital Health technologies directly aligned to GSK’s portfolio. This will require influencing and aligning with the strategic direction of GSK’s pipeline priorities to facilitate the introduction and adoption of Digital Health capabilities.

Working with DH&I team’s DH Product Area Leads [PALs], this role will support the development of Digital Health plans and Digital Health technologies aligned to asset/ TA strategies, while sharing learnings on how we deliver excellence in this space.

The Strategy Director will be a key Digital Health thought leader in this rapidly evolving space and will be required to share and evaluate technology trends from inside and outside the industry.

Key Responsibilities

As the DH&I Strategy Director you will work to create an internal and external ecosystem that delivers value for our assets and patients through the implementation of Digital Health tools in an efficient, scaled & data focused manner across the enterprise.

  • Lead and support the development and implementation of the DH&I Strategy(ies) that support scaling of Digital Health across the enterprise, considering people, process, technology and investment proposals around scaling DH to an enterprise level. The Strategy Director will work closely with the DH&I LT and key senior partners/stakeholders both internally and externally to GSK
  • Improve GSK’s Digital Health readiness by building tools and practices to empower the business to invest and deliver Digital Health technologies
  • Drive awareness of new ways-of-working, developed from the DH&I strategies, supporting the successful transition to new organizational processes. Work with teams from across the business to driver enterprise-wide excellence and track progress and value created
  • Deliver monthly DH&I LT strategy sessions, strategy reports, recommendation documents etc. to support leadership decision-making processes to gather input and drive decision making
  • Partner with business functions maintaining close ongoing strategic relationships with senior stakeholders and partners of the Tech, R&D, Medical and Commercial business units to understand the strategic direction of GSK’s business priorities
  • Own senior stakeholder management and alignment to ensure the wider business are clear on objectives, outputs and next steps and are inspired by what Digital Health could achieve and the value it could bring
  • Work in close partnership with DH&I Product Area Leads and peers to help ideate on digital health value propositions, define business models, and develop clear & impactful strategies for new product offerings aligned to GSK TAs and priority assets
  • Contribute to the strategic direction setting and project prioritization for the business units [R&D and Commercial]
  • Coordinate the sharing of work to date, insights and trends from inside and outside the industry both with and outside of the DH&I team e.g., DIEX and DTMs

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Science, Business, Computer Science or related field
  • 8 years + Experience in Life Science industry with a solid understanding of Drug Development and launch
  • Demonstration of broad entrepreneurial / innovation background and strong digital leadership [Digital Health, Data, Analytics, AI, Machine learning]
  • Experience in digital innovation process management and applications in the life science and health care industries
  • Highly developed and influential communicator with an ability to express complex ideas in clear and compelling way to external and internal senior stakeholders
  • Demonstration of ambitious innovating problem solving focused on solving large scale problems
  • Strong experience in successful delivery of projects in a Strategy Consulting role or Operations at a start-up e.g., operating model strategies, organizational change management, structured analysis, business case development and creating actionable plans to implement strategy
  • Bold and ambitious for improving current ways-of-working, with the highest level of integrity and the ability to foster trust and loyalty to drive change
  • Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Advanced degree in Science, Business, Computer Science or related field
  • A highly skilled storyteller, strong experience in presenting to and interacting with senior management.
  • A natural skill to engage with people at a deep level whether observing, interviewing or working with fellow team members and stakeholders
  • Experience in developing and launching digital products into the market accelerating time to value
  • Motivated by delivering digital innovation in service of improved patient outcomes and treatment experience
  • An establish global network across the Digital Health ecosystem
