About The Role / Segment
We are hiring an Application Support Engineer to join our global support team.
- Our support team is located in Asia, Europe (Belgium) and in the US.
- Our support team provides support on the software product Opcenter RD&L to our colleagues, partners and end users in case they have problems with our software solution.
- Opcenter Research, Development & Laboratory (RD&L) allows companies in Customer Packaged Goods (CPG) and process industries to capitalize on their R&D potential and develop new products faster. Opcenter RD&L offers a scalable and flexible platform to streamline, optimize and align all product development processes with manufacturing. It keeps the product designs and processes well in line with quality and regulatory requirements. The smooth integration and alignment of R&D and manufacturing data and processes drastically speeds up the transfer of final product designs to mainstream manufacturing.
- As a Support Engineer in the Opcenter RD&L support team, you will work from home or from the office in Huizingen, close to the colleagues who are involved in the implementation of our product at new customers. This gives the possibility to share knowledge, and to better understand how end users use our product.
- We are a global support team, with the largest support team located in Europe. You will be able to rely from all locations to assist you.
- You will be responsible to handle problems and questions reported by our customers and partners (on our support portal or by phone).
- Your role will include solving configuration and implementation problems for our end customers.
- In case you are able to solve the problem, you will need to communicate the solution in such a way that it is understandable by the customer (sometimes not technical specialists).
- In case you are able to reproduce a reported problem in the standard product, you will have to document the scenario in which the problem occurs, and you will forward this information to the development team who will need to fix the reported problem. As a support engineer, we are not making changes to the standard product code.
- Based on the experience as a result of solving problems, you will be invited to write knowledge base articles explaining the problem and the solution. These articles will be published on our support portal and will help other customers with a similar question and problem and will help us to decrease the number of incoming support cases.
- Our support team follows the new trends in the world of application and product support, by providing additional services such as communities (where customer can post questions or share their knowledge), and with a focus on the end customer by helping them to use our products in best way to guarantee a high return of their investment.
Your qualifications
- Young graduate
- Work experience is not needed or mandatory
Based on our experience, we know that support engineers with an Information Technology education (understanding the technology behind the product) or Biological Engineering education (understanding the functionality of our product) are successful.
- Bachelor or master’s degree in information technology
- Agricultural and Biological Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Materials Science and Engineering
- You have an affinity with software tools and/or affinity with product design, quality, and production environments: for example, in the food, chemicals, the laboratory world.
- Skills: Communicative, analytical, customer-oriented, flexible, autonomous and structured, ability to quickly understand and assess the problem reported by the customer.
- You will be trained on the IT tools on which our product is based (Windows, database (SQL Server), web server (Microsoft Internet Information Services).
- You will attend trainings to understand the functionality covered by our product, and how our product is implemented at our end customers.
- Become within the support team an expert in a clearly defined technology (SQL*server, SQL*server Reporting services, .net, java, .. ).
- Evolution towards a functional expert: become THE contact person for a specific customer to help them to use our solution in the optimal way, to help them with questions, problems and consult them to configure the system.
- With the acquired experience in the support team, you have the opportunity to transition to the department that implements new projects for new customers.
