Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant was founded in 2008 and currently employs more than 160 staff members. It is a unique and open innovation pilot and demonstration facility for process development, scale-up and custom manufacturing of biobased products and processes from lab to multi ton scale. A wide and flexible spectrum of modular unit operations combined with a team of highly trained and experienced engineers and bioprocess technicians facilitates the translation of biobased laboratory processes into viable industrial processes.

To date, Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant has successfully performed 500+ projects on a bilateral basis with 200+ companies from all over the world. It was/is also involved in more than 50 consortium-based public projects.

Your profile

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience with HPLC and UPLC (sample preparation, method implementation and validation).
  • You have strong technical knowledge of HPLC (troubleshooting, minor repairs, maintenance) or are willing to learn this on the job.
  • Experience with GC, SDS-PAGE, and/or Flow Cytometry is a plus.
  • You can communicate fluently in Dutch and English.
  • You have solid knowledge of and experience with OpenLab, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • You work with precision.
  • You are eager to learn.
  • You dislike routine tasks.

Your activities

  • You ensure that the analytical instruments are ready for use for ongoing, constantly changing projects.
    • Method implementation
    • Preparation of standard solutions and samples
    • Preparation of calibration curves
  • You step in for more complex sample preparations and analysis (GC, enzyme assays, SDS-PAGE)
  • You are the first point of contact for process engineers and technicians involved in ongoing projects.
  • You are vigilant for malfunctions and ensure they are quickly resolved
  • You assist with the calibration and maintenance of both analytical and general laboratory equipment.
  • You perform general lab tasks (housekeeping, check-ups, etc.) necessary to maintain order and cleanliness in the lab.
  • You report to the lab manager but also work closely with process engineers on a daily basis.
