The position is located in Belgium, directly reporting the Regional Field Technical Services Manager Europe. Local presence and language are important to fulfill the core responsibilities.
Core responsibility:
- To ensure that the Technical Service Representatives and Freelancers are qualified and conduct their work in a professional manner, by giving technical support and assistance to the yards / contractors and sub-contractors who are and remain responsible for the proper application of PPG products and systems.
- To ensure that the Technical Service Representatives and Freelancers report and maintain adequate records of the actual condition and standards of application witnessed on site, in order to protect PPG against claims / complaints whilst enhancing customer satisfaction.
- First line of contact for technical support and questions from the local sales team
- First line of contact for claims and complaints from ship owners to solve early in the process
- Attend field activity to maximize productivity and flexibility of the team
- Support smooth invoicing process by monitoring docking schedules and finalization.
Core tasks:
- To ensure that the uniform guidelines and procedures set by the Global Field Technical Services Office are followed, and that the required reporting is done correctly and in time, in order to ensure that the interests of PPG are protected.
- To take responsibility for a qualitative and quantitative proper and professional Field Technical Services organization in the local PPG organization.
- To arrange and schedule the Technical Service Representatives and Freelancers in such a way that the right man is at the right site at the right time in the most efficient and cost-effective way
- To take responsibility for the necessary training and education of his Field Technical Services team in such a way that they are familiar with the new products’ development, and keep updated regarding new application procedures and methods.
- To regularly check the performance of the Technical Service Representative(s) and Freelancers on site and if needed take corrective measures to ensure satisfactory results.
- To coordinate and organize the tasks and responsibilities of the local support team so that it will be supportive to the commercial / marketing department objectives.
- To ensure and strengthen the ‘Environmental, Health and Safety Quality’ policy for the Field Technical Service related activities.
- To take responsibility for recruiting new Technical Service Representatives in line with the PPG policy.
- Indicating costs for invoicing or re-invoicing to Customer Service and/or Finance Department.
- In case of complaint / (potential) claim, to inform immediately the responsible Sales Manager and the responsible claim / complaint handling Manager to register in the CAIR system, and Field Technical Service Regional Manager EMEA providing all relevant information.
- To be aware of the general content of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and be familiar with the local safety rules, following them together with the PPG EHS department guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Education level: High school / Polytechnic School / Ships-officer or seaman qualification or similar
- Experience: 3 - 5 years in the Marine or Protective coating related business
- Computer skills: Microsoft Word / Excel / E-mail & Internet communication
- Competence and experience in management of people
- Fluency in Business English
