Based in Mons, Belgium the System Administrator plays a key role in supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting and automated deployment of Independent Verification, Validation and Quality (IVV&Q) reference environments.Who We Are

The Role
We are looking for a talented System Administrator who will be working within the Independent Verification, Validation and Quality (IVVQ) platform and facilities team that operates and maintains the NCIA and IVVQ reference environments. This is an ideal position for an engineer or senior technician who has a passion for developing and providing modern infrastructure and platform services.

The System Administrator will be part of a team that develops and operates the NATO enterprise wide reference system in support of Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) and change activities. This includes the management of technical lab facilities, as well as providing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) in private, hybrid and public cloud environments, applying leading orchestration, deployment and virtualization technologies.
- Operate and maintain private, hybrid and public cloud environments used by IVVQ and its internal and external customers
- Deploying and configuring these environments in preparation for test events
- Operating and maintaining virtual desktop infrastructure including back-end services
- Executing onsite hardware maintenance work for the datacentre
- Ensuring that environments comply with NATO security requirements, including the configuration of security monitoring and enterprise anti-virus implementation
- Replicating production environments to ensure that test activities are conducted in a suitable environment
- Operating and maintaining the back-up and restore solution
- Ensuring proper change and configuration management practices are put in place for these environments;
- Support the asset management of the IVVQ infrastructure and services
- Act as alternate for operating, maintaining and custodial functions for crypto equipment
- Providing monthly management reporting regarding the status and availability of the reference environments
You easily establish good relationship and are able to relate to people at all levels. You produce new ideas, approaches and insights to deliver innovate solutions to problems. Able to adapt to changing circumstances you can manage ambiguity, accept new ideas and change initiatives, further to this you have:
- Experience provisioning and maintaining of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) in private, public or hybrid cloud environments, ideally including VMWare based services
- Experience in operating enterprise level back-up and restore solutions, ideally including Veeam
- Operating and configuring services based on WSUS, MECM (former SCCM), McAfee ePO.
- Windows or Linux/Unix systems administration experience and testing experience
- Working-level knowledge of MS-Office, Project, Visio and SharePoint
- Ideally experience in working with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation etc.)
- Ideally experience in working with physical and software defined networks
- Ideally have experience with cryptographic equipment
- Ideally work experience as a tester or independent verification and validation engineer, during all phases of the project lifecycle
