The Communication and External Relations Department, International Relations Service is recruiting:

Head of Communication Unit for the CIVIS University Alliance (contract for one year renewable)

Context :
Since 2019, under the impetus of the European Commission’s European Universities Initiative and Erasmus+ programme, eleven European universities have joined forces to form an alliance called CIVIS. CIVIS aims to create a truly unique European interuniversity campus where students, academics, researchers, and staff will move and collaborate as freely as within their institution of origin. CIVIS will develop a deep level of European integration, involving joint learning pathways, complementary research facilities and diverse degree pathways.

Within the Alliance, ULB co-coordinates the Alliance’s efforts on “Impact and Dissemination”. In this context, ULB is looking for a Head of Communication Unit who will join the ULB CIVIS Team and carry out, for the entire Alliance, the following missions.

Job description:
Mission 1: Strategic management of communication and dissemination

Implementing the CIVIS communication and dissemination strategy.
Nurturing a structured collaboration among all member universities’ communication offices and other relevant CIVIS actors.
Actively monitoring all CIVIS activities and identifying communication opportunities and developing communication plans and roadmaps accordingly.
Coordinating the internal communication among all partners via the CIVIS Communication Unit and ensuring consistent dissemination of CIVIS content by each partner.
Producing reports and actively making recommendations on amendments to the global communication strategy and processes.

Mission 2: Management and coordination of international teams

Ensuring daily functioning of the CIVIS Communication Team (three other fulltime team members based in Brussels, Athens and Bucharest).
Coordinating CIVIS Communication Unit (11 members from all eleven member universities).Organising regular and ad hoc meetings online and on-site (international travel 1 to 3 times per year is foreseen.

Mission 3: Management of CIVIS communication and dissemination tools

Leading the promotion of CIVIS opportunities and dissemination of key results (strategies, materials, guidelines, tailored support to other actors).
Producing, editing, and commissioning content in English for the CIVIS website, newsletters, and social media: articles, press releases, audio-visual content, print material, etc.
Overseeing the production and updating of presentation materials and a branding toolkit/policy.
Supervising the dissemination of CIVIS content on its channels and by all member universities.
Coordinating the e-mailing strategy.
Participating, with local partners, in the development of communication actions to support and promote major CIVIS activities.
Tracking the budgets allocated for all communication and outreach activities within CIVIS.

Profile:
Master’s degree, preferably in the field of communication and/or marketing. Relevant professional experience of at least 5 years is required.
Persons holding a diploma not issued by the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles must obtain an equivalence from the FWB ( http://www.equivalences.cfwb.be/index.php?id=486 ).

Skills and knowledge required:
Expertise in content production and a flair for storytelling.
Understanding of communications strategies and reporting.
Experience of social media, website and newsletter management and strategies.
Excellent command of English (C1 level minimum), with experience of drafting and editing texts for print, web and social media.
Good command of French. Knowledge of one or more of the other languages used within the CIVIS Alliance is an asset.
Previous experience of team management is an asset.
Previous experience in European projects and/or international organisations is an asset.
