Introduction:
As a Security-Network Service Engineer you are responsible for a solution that provides access to public information services through managed gateways and also to enable remote users to access the network services and internal resources provided by the public access network and the clients Wide Area Network.

The Security-Network Service Engineer is an integral and very important part of BT’s managed services business. Besides being responsible for managing the managed solution for our customers, the Security-Network Service Engineer will act as BT’s eye-and-ears at customer premises and represent BT in a professional matter.

Skills, knowledge, experience required:
  • An intermediate to senior knowledge and experience in systems integration with a minimum of 5 years of working experience (network analysis, troubleshooting, monitoring and management systems in a WAN/LAN environment);
  • A knowledge of:
  • DDOS appliances;
  • Cisco Catalyst, Router and Nexus;
  • Switching & Advanced Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP,…);
  • SPAM/Antivirus protection mechanism;
  • VLAN, HSRP, ACL, WCCP, port-profiles, NAT/PAT;
  • FortiGate NGFW;
  • Mail Proxy MessageLabs;
  • Forward Proxy (Z-scaler – Ironports);
  • Infoblox (Forward DNS, External DNS);
  • Trend Micro IWSVA;
  • DNS (primary and secondary);
  • Citrix NetScaler (GSLB, Content Switching, Remote access, Web Application FW);
  • Akamai (CDN, DNS Delegation);
  • HID Radius.
  • A can-do attitude, eagerness to learn, being flexible and customer focused;
  • To possess a natural initiative and pro-activeness to their method of working, to be open to and advise on new ideas;
  • Strong communication skills with an excellent standard of written and spoken English;
  • Strong team player skills but also being able to work on own initiative;
  • The ability to work well to deadlines and under pressure.
Desirable:
  • A knowledge of:
  • SolarWinds (NPM, NCM, SAM, SLA, NetFlow);
  • VPN (S2S, SLL, IPSEC);
  • VMware, Linux, Windows base skills.
Duties/role:
  • Managing the BT solution at customer location;
  • Interacting with the customer’s service desk team to liaise on the issues pertaining our managed solution;
  • Logging and managing the incidents and problems in customer system;
  • Providing Level 2 support on the incident and problems as per agreed Service Level Agreement;
  • Liaising with Level 3 support teams which in turn comprises of BT professionals and Level 3 support of various suppliers;
  • Preparing and managing service related documentation;
  • Advising, building, troubleshooting and maintaining solutions using Citrix NetScaler technology;
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining basic network infrastructure based on Cisco technology.
