Make your mark for patientsTo strengthen our Investigative Toxicology (iTox) team, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Laboratory Scientist, based in Braine-L’Alleud, Belgium.The iTox group is an integral component of the Non-Clinical Safety Evaluation function within Development Sciences which as a department provides strategy and support in integrated non-clinical safety / toxicology, pathology, pharmacokinetics / pharmacodynamics and DMPK, bioanalysis, immunogenicity, and regulatory activities throughout the lifespan of projects, from target identification through to clinical studies. The iTox group operates and collaborates closely with colleagues in Development Sciences and across the organization to support GLP and non-GLP in silico, in vitro, and in vivo non-clinical safety activities.The successful candidate will work primarily in the lab to plan, execute, analyze, interpret, and document in vitro toxicology assays and support senior scientists to assure optimal, effective, efficient, and timely delivery of data and good communication between laboratory and project teams/management.Main Accountabilities
  • Supporting wet lab-based activities including cell culture maintenance, iPSC, conduct of cytotoxicity assays, proteomics (e. g. SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, capillary electrophoresis, ELISA, MDS, Luminex), and lab management
  • Support assessment of new technologies and approaches such as micro-physiological systems (MPS) and iPS-derived cell systems
  • Support activities regarding in vitro mechanistic and investigative toxicology, toxicology pathways, and safety biomarkers
  • Collaborate with the lab-based team and the lab head
  • Analyze, interpret, document, and present output to the team or a larger audience within Development Sciences
Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related fields with experience in line with the requirements of the posted position
  • Previous hands-on experience of working in pharmaceutical drug discovery and development environment or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in a range of in vitro approaches with a particular focus on characterizing compound effects
  • Hands-on experience with in vitro toxicity assays and protein analytics
  • Ability to work independently in task execution, data analysis, data interpretation, documentation, and communication
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a highly interactive environment with an emphasis on teamwork
  • Experience in working with electronic lab books
  • Experience in heading and coordinating lab activities
