Summary
Who May Apply?US Citizens currently residing within the commuting area of CHIEVRES Air Base, Belgium (not ordinarily resident in Belgium). US resident alien family members of US sponsors who are citizens of NATO countries other than Belgium.
This position is located at the USAG Benelux, DFMWR,Gym-Physical Fitness, Chievres Airbase, Belgium.
Responsibilities
Lead Recreation Assistant will:
- Circulate among patrons to assure service is satisfactory; receives and resolves customer complaints.
- Provide information and general instructions on the use of equipment, facilitates and machinery.
- Assist patrons in use of the facility by checking out equipment, providing safety instructions, demonstrating new equipment, teaching classes.
- Plans, conducts, publicize and arrange support for special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions.
- Leads the work of other employees by distributing workload, answering questions of employees on procedures, policies and directives.
- Provides leadership, guidance and oversight in program operations.
- Provides on-the job training to new employees.

- A probation period of one year may be required.
- Successfully complete a health screening. Immunizations required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
- Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- In consideration of COVID-19, personnel within this area routinely wear personal protective equipment (cloth face coverings, latex gloves, and face shields) while performing their regular duties.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications of CPR, First Aid, and AED training within 6 months of employment.
- Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
- Ability obtain and maintain and Government Drivers License.
Qualifications
Work experience which involved dealing with the general public.Within 6 months of employment, ABILITY TO OBTAIN and MAINTAIN Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and GROUP or PERSONAL TRAINER or INDIVIDUAL FITNESS CERTIFICATIONS
.HIGHLY DESIRABLE:- Experience in planning and executing large scale community runs, obstacle courses and/or military ceremonies.
- Supervisory Experience.
