Procurement Director – BioScience Material

The role will have responsibility for Bioscience Materials Procurement, and reports into Senior Director – Glass, Bioscience category and Manufacturing Procurement Center The role leads Procurement for Bioscience Materials. The role interacts with senior stakeholders in the supply chain and directly covers up to £300m in spend. Additionally, the role:

• Develops strategic sourcing strategies for a defined portfolio
• Requires high cultural awareness
• Plans, leads and oversees negotiations
• Build and delivers a Procurement strategy across portfolio or Region/Sub-Region
• Creates and implements Procurement initiatives/strategies which improve quality of service and supply and produce significant cost savings across business units or supply networks
• Knows and utilises complex business processes in all GSK supplier transactions, including all risk/regulatory/compliance requirements
• Understands and business partners the customer group in order to deliver relevant strategic procurement solutions
• Leads, manages and develops a team of procurement managers to facilitate delivery of the primary role purpose described above.

Your responsibilities:

• You manage a spend of up to £300m by creating comprehensive global sourcing strategies, operating with a truly global and strategic mindset
• You build strategic relationships with a network of senior GSK global stakeholders, to understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value and to position Procurement’s value proposition. Align sourcing strategies accordingly
• You create compelling business cases for change and obtain approval to execute from GSK Supply Chain and/or other support functions (Finance, HR) senior management, and to agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted
• You deliver global benefits identified in strategies through effective strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), compliance, quality, service, cost and innovation
• You engage stakeholders, Finance and other relevant functions in the sourcing strategy delivery and execution
• You build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships Ensure BU considerations are accounted for in supplier relationships.
• You lead and direct category team within scope of responsibility
• You build the organizational capabilities necessary to implement GSK strategy, now and in the future.
• You ensure appropriate communication strategy is in place and in use within the relevant Procurement and business customer networks

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

• Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Science, Business, Finance
• Significant experience in procurement, leading teams
• Subject matter expertise in procurement area of Bioscience Material for manufacturing
• Highly developed business acumen with demonstrated success in delivering a multi-year strategy ensuring competitive commercial advantage
• To be able to Build powerful network with Key (Senior) Stakeholders in order to agree and progress procurement strategies in line with Business requirements.
• To be able to interact with VP / SVP / GM level
• Demonstrated ability to forge close business relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all management levels
• Requires significant external supplier and market knowledge of Bioscience and/or Biotechnology

Preferred Qualifications:

• Skilled negotiator adept at leading complex negotiations with both external and internal stakeholders
• Good understanding of market drivers effecting category; strong commitment to keeping abreast of trends
• Finely honed project and change management skills
• In depth understanding of latest tools for executing sourcing strategies including digital tools
• Clear understanding business value, business priorities, and potential implementation risks
• Experience managing the delivery of large projects and with end-to-end service / operations management
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
