About EPD
The European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) is a non-profit organisation supporting democracy
worldwide. It is a unique platform comprising European civil and political society and democracy
support organisations present in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. More

We are looking for a Programme Assistant to join our team as soon as possible. The Programme
Assistant will join the implementation team of the WYDE Youth (Youth Participation in Public
Affairs) project, which aims to improve the enfranchisement, empowerment, and inclusion of youth
in all levels of democratic participation at the national, regional and global scales.The position is available for an initial period of two years.
Accountabilities and key relationships
The Programme Assistant will be based in Brussels and will report to the EPD Head of
Programmes. As a member of the WYDE team, she/he/they will work in close cooperation with the
EPD Programme Coordinator, the EPD Operations Manager and with the Head of Operations.
She/he/they will also have regular working relationships with other EPD staff in Brussels.
Duties and responsibilities
Project management
- Providing assistance on project management (monitoring and evaluation, narrative and financial reporting, implementation of activities, etc.);
- Supporting the work of the programme coordination team (attending and writing reports/minutes of events, maintaining the database up to date, etc.);
- Supporting the work of the team in monitoring the budget as well as the financial reporting process with the European Commission and partners in the project;
- Assisting the team with procurement processes for research, expert recruitment, etc. (open calls for applications, administrative tasks, compliance and procurement.
Logistical support
- Supporting the logistical organisation of project missions and events abroad (booking travel and accommodation, catering, event venues, insurance, visas etc.);
- Assisting the Head of Operations and Operations Manager in recruiting external experts;
- Dealing with ad-hoc changes to international missions and urgent support mobilised for missions around the world.
Communication and events
- Supporting communication and advocacy efforts (newsletter drafting, policy monitoring etc.)
- Supporting the organisation of events (seminars, public events) under the WYDE project.
Miscellaneous
- Acting as a focal point for equipment and IT requests;
- Assisting in the daily functioning of the organisation, including administrative and logistical tasks;
- Providing other kinds of assistance as requested.
Requirements
- Recent graduate or young professional with strong interest and sound knowledge of EU policies and/or programming, ideally in the field of democracy support;
- Very good written and spoken English and French;
- Knowledge of politics in Africa, Latin America, Asia is considered an asset;
- Swahili, Shona, Portuguese or Arabic language skills are considered an asset;
- Previous experience in the non-profit sector is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of democracy literature is considered an asset.
