Job description:Role and Responsibilities:
- Engineering systems: Responsibility for installation, configuration, circuit line-up, documentation and maintenance (routine, 1st and 2nd level maintenance according to the supplier’s specifications) of all network equipment systems, spares and satellite antennas in PCCWG Teleport and Datacenter.
- Out of hours duty rota: Work as part of the duty rota (Level 2) providing call out engineering support to Level 1 as specified in the Call Out Rota terms and conditions
- Support and maintain Network facilities equipment (Air conditioning, diesel generators, power and energy system, etc).
- Maintain PCCWG SLA commitments: ensure maximum circuit availability and shortest possible problem resolution
- Equipment Configuration and Installation (RF and IP): Carry out Network and IP equipment installation, configuration, and commissioning (whether expansion, project, or operation related).
- Assist equipment suppliers, contractors, partners and other PCCWG departments in equipment installation, commissioning and fault-finding activities.
- Coordinating with the Belgian NOC Level 1 and addressing customer complaints, faults and alarms and updating the Trouble Ticketing System/ Fault Log accordingly, remote support with the Belgian NOC Level 1 and Satellite Engineering Level 2 engineers.
- Carrying out remedial and other maintenance activities when on normal working day duty or standby, as requested by the management.
- Earth Station monitoring and control systems: Maintenance, configuration, and management of the monitoring systems for the PCCWG network/customer equipment. Assist the NOC to resolve problems with the system.
- Updating and supporting the maintenance of System Documentation: Ensure that system documentation is up-to-date through proper documentation and drawings.
- ISO 9k and 50k: Ensure that all process, forms and records are properly understood, followed and in application as described in the PCCWG Quality Management Systems.
- Safe Agile certification to integrate the ART-value stream process
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in all respects with all customers and PCCWG departments.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of modern switching systems (circuits and Packet), voice compression, VoIP, transmission technologies, multiplexers, and IP systems such as routers (CCNA), monitoring systems (Dataminer), satellite telecommunications systems such as DAMA HUB (Gilat, iDIrect, UHP), Comtech Vipersat, Carrier in Carrier technology, DBS2 technology (Newtec, Novelsat, Comtech), …
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in electrical design and sizing, knowledge, and experience of facilities equipment such as UPS, Air Conditioning System, Power system, Diesel Generator, etc…
- Knowledge of relevant International Standards, Practices and Recommendations (ITU-T, ITU-R, ETSI).
- Previous work experience in operating telecommunications systems and IP systems, hands-on maintenance experience and supplier specific hardware knowledge. Significant maintenance experience in the same field.
- Very good analytical, conceptual and trouble shooting skills
- Good command of written and spoken French and English
- Ability to build up a trust relationship with the customer and passionately provide an excellent quality of service
- Understand the needs and expectations of customers and encourage other employees to do the same
- Understand and demonstrate sensitivity for cultural differences. Show a high level of consciousness and a behaviour appropriate for the situation
