The Vaccines Product area plays a critical role in the GSK strategy to get ahead of disease. GSK Vaccines has a strong portfolio of commercially launched vaccines, including recently launched vaccines like Shingrix and Bexsero. Additionally, GSK Vaccines has an exciting portfolio of new vaccines in development with significant commercial launches planned over the next 5 years.

The Vaccines manufacturing and supply network supports the vaccines product area by sourcing, manufacturing and supplying our vaccines products to customers globally. This network consists of a large hub site in Wavre and a further 11 manufacturing sites covering North America, Europe and Singapore. This manufacturing network and organisation (12,000 GSK staff) supports approximately £7bn of revenue for GSK and will play an increasingly important role in the new GSK as the vaccine’s portfolio delivers.

The primary accountability and responsibility of the Senior Director for Vaccines Data and Analytics is to lead the development, delivery and support of analytics ready data sets and data products into vaccines manufacturing and supply organization that drives business value.

This business value will include data products that drive and enable our growth agenda, drive efficiency and supply chain performance, and secure our license to operate by enhancing manufacturing robustness and quality. The types of data products include data models, dashboards, advanced analytics products, visualization products, cognitive automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence products.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director for Vaccines Data and Analytics who can:

  • Inspire and influence the opportunity of data analytics to delivery significant business value,
  • Establish partnerships between business and Tech teams to align strategy and objectives for how data products will be delivered, including partnering with our Core D&A platform and Technology team to ensure the right data platform components are available to meet our data and analytics ambition
  • Co-define value streams that deliver against strategic themes, aligning products or use cases to drive the development and delivery of robust, compliant and impactful data products, leveraging internal resources and external strategic delivery partners
  • Manage the full lifecycle of data products including data engineering to create analytics ready data sets, development of the data product, and on-going support and maintenance and enhancements, and ultimately through to decommissioning of data products as they are replaced by new capabilities
  • Manage and oversee the robust qualification, and in some cases GxP validation, of data products
  • Take part in the GSK D&A Leader Community to set direction for GSK D&A Strategy and for the growth in Data Literacy across GSK, and take an active role in advocating a Data Driven Culture within Vaccines
  • Strategy: Inspire and influence the 3-year strategy for data and analytics products within the vaccines manfucturing and supply, quality, and vaccines commercial and medical domains, partnering with the domain Tech lead and business domain stakeholders. Accountable for development and delivery strategy of data products within vaccines product area. Support the broader GSK enterprise D&A Strategy and ensure vaccines product area specific platform technology requirements are represented in the enterprise data platforms.
  • Product management:Accountable for implementing product-centric and Agile product delivery model within Vx Data and Analytics, with a strong focus on effective partnership with domain Tech teams within Vx Tech to ensure business context and value are clearly understood, requirements are clear and unambiguous to enable efficient data ops and engineering delivery, and continuous feedback from business customers and end users is fed into the Agile process. Partner with domain Tech teams to ensure delivery expectations and timelines are ambitious but realistic, and that progress is clearly and transparently communicated with one Tech voice into business stakeholders.
  • Governance: Provide effective input into data product value prioritization and support data product investment proposals, aligned with the central Data Governance
  • Business Process:Design the optimal set of Data and Analytics products and services that meets the business strategy and requirements, including automation of data ingestion, integration and distribution activities.
  • Quality, Risk & Compliance: Accountable for ensuring all data products supporting the business are qualified and / or validated to ensure compliance with internal security, risk management policies and practices, external regulatory and statutory requirements, and that continuity plans are in place for all business-critical products. Effectively input into the overall Vaccines Tech Risk Management and Compliance Board
  • Service Management: Accountable for ensuring the right service levels are in place and maintained in line with business need and the appropriate responses made to Voice of the Process (VOP) and Voice of the Customer (VOC).
  • Change & Release management:Manage change activity, including Software-as-a-Service delivered change, into the production service in a compliant and efficient manner.
  • Integrations:In collaboration with Vaccines Domain Architect, ensure that data integrations are efficient, accurate and secure.
  • People Management:Accountable for line managing that Vaccines Data and Analytics group. This will include ensuring activation of the GSK culture, effective talent management and succession planning for key roles, applying the GSK performance management framework and ensuring and inclusive and diverse work environment. The role also has a responsibility to maintain oversight and control of the contingent worker resources.
  • Culture: Execution harnessing the key GSK culture pillars of Accountability for Impact, Focus on the Patient and Do the Right Thing
