Position title: Senior Electronics Engineer - DYMO

Location: Sint-Niklaas, BE

Reports to: Sr. Firmware Manager

Contract type: Permanent, full-time

Job summary:

As a Sr. Electronics Engineer you will be a member of the R&D team responsible for developing the hardware for the new DYMO thermal printers.

Your main tasks include defining, documenting, prototyping, testing and debugging as well as qualifying and releasing to production reliable and cost-effective electronic solutions.

As a Sr. Electronics Engineer you will work under general project level supervision in an independent manner. You will carry out assignments of moderate to high difficulty, working according to global processes and ISO procedures.

Key responsibilities:

Operational

• Assists in the system design and key components selection, based on product specification. Major design areas include power supplies, batteries, chargers, displays, printed circuit boards, keyboards, motors, print heads and communications systems (USB, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
• Develops within agreed timing/cost/quality constraints, according to the agreed specification.
• Responsible to meet electrical safety compliance requirements (USB, ESD, CEC, EMC, CE and other).
• Assists in the process of bringing the product to mass production and support sustaining activities afterwards.
• Keep the electronic bill of material and technical databases (Windchill, JIRA and/or other) up to date.
• Work with subcontractors, project managers, manufacturing, QA/QC and R&D engineers to identify and resolve product manufacturability, reliability and functionality issues.

Strategic

• Watch and analyze competitor products.
• Watch technology evolution on the market.
• Build up knowledge about printing technologies, batteries, chargers and communication technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering
• High proficiency in microcontrollers
• Knowledge of host, printer, firmware/hardware interactions and compatibility issues
• Fluent in Dutch and English
• Willing to travel overseas (max duration 2 weeks, max 4 times per year)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in functional design and system architectural design
• Know how to use electronic design software (schematic design, pcb routing, etc.)
• Know how to operate electronic equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers etc.)
• Ability to solve technical problems in a fast-paced product development environment
• Ability to work independently under time and resources constraints
• Team player with ability to work and interact effectively with individuals from other disciplines, projects, functional areas and external partners
• Experience with wireless communication technologies like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
• Experienced in C programming
