Mission Statement

We are looking for a highly motivated SHEQ Manager. In this role you will contribute to the success of Buckman EMENA by effectively managing risks pertaining to Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and business. You will support Buckman Laboratories Ghent and Customer Sites by leading the organization and SHEQ Department in ensuring associate health and safety, site security, business risk minimization, quality program management, compliance with legislation and corporate requirements pertaining to safety, health, environmental and quality assurance expectations. You will identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to achieve business excellence.

Expectations For The Role
  • Leading and coaching the SHEQ Team;
  • Ensuring effective Performance and Talent Management of direct reports by agreeing on appropriate KPI’s, improvement actions follow up and ensuring compliance and accountability;
  • Effective manage the Quality Management Program and Quality Control function;
  • Implement and execute an effective Emergency Response and Preparedness Plan;
  • Active participation in crisis management and in 24/7 emergency call service as required;
  • Effective oversee adherence to the SHEQ systems and procedures;
  • Manage overall risks including safety, health, environment, quality and business risks;
  • Actively support and oversee the management of Field Safety in close partnership with sales;
  • Ensuring that the HCAS/CAS Audits at all major customer sites are conducted on as per global requirements;
  • Ensuring stakeholder compliance and communication, coordinate and enforce SHE legislative, customer, GS&E (global safety and environmental) and Buckman processes compliance;
  • Driving contractor compliance in the workplace to minimize/eliminate risks;
  • Ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental objectives to our triple ISO systems (45001, 14001 and 9001);
  • Driving Process Safety Management in the production plant;
  • Driving continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements To Apply
  • Master’s degree – preferably in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering;
  • Degree of Prevention Advisor level 1 and Environmental Coordinator level A is a must;

    • Minimum 5 years’ related experience in SHEQ management in the chemical process manufacturing industry and 3 years of people management skills;
    • Experience or certification in Process Safety Management;
    • Proven experience in risk management is a must to drive our Zero incident safety culture;
    • Proven experience in SHEQ systems, ISO certification, environmental and operating permits;
    • Familiar with all applicable legislations and with the various authorities including inspections;
    • Very good knowledge and understanding of document management systems;
    • Very good knowledge and understanding of statutory, company and normative compliance obligations;
    • Good understanding of financial principles of a production environment;
    • Advanced relationship building skills and communication;
    • IT/Computer skills (MS Office, ERP).
