The ViscoElastics (VE) product range is consisting of liquids that are inserted in the eye during an eye surgery. The VE make sure the eye tissues are protected during the surgery and provide the required stability for the surgeon to perform the surgery. We are looking for a buyer/planner who can contribute to the VE team by planning the raw materials / components required for the VE production. Additionally, the buyer/planner needs to work together with external suppliers, contract manufacturers (CMOs) and different internal Alcon departments to allow production of the Viscoelastic product range to continue as planned.Main responsibilities:For the ViscoElastics Supply Chain Team, we are looking for a buyer/planner who can help the team to achieve its goals by:- Planning materials for ViscoElastics production (monitoring inventory levels & safety stocks, inventory reporting, defining orders to be placed, etc.)
- Purchasing materials at our suppliers (creating orders, following up on delivery dates, collecting all required approvals/documentation, etc.)
- Aligning component availability with the production schedules of the CMOs
- Analyzing impact of supply disruptions and defining corrective actions (using MS Excel for analysis)
- Working together with other Alcon teams (QA, lab, warehouse, transportation, etc.). Goal is to follow-up and help to resolve ongoing issues to make sure materials are available to production in a timely manner.
- Preparing management reporting
- Contributing to diverse initiatives to improve the way we work within the team and with the Alcon systems
- Since the suppliers, CMOs and the different Alcon teams are spread over the world (mainly Europe & USA), excellent communication skills and a good level of English are required.
- Pro-actively identifying / communicating issues and defining scenarios to resolve them
- Follow-up on open topics with suppliers / CMOs / internal Alcon teams
- Accuracy, quality and timeliness of reports, results and communication

- Education:
- Minimum: Bachelor degree in Economics / Supply chain or engineering
- Preferred: Master degree in Economics / Supply chain or engineering. Additional degrees in supply chain are a plus.
- Languages:
- Fluently in English & Dutch
- Knowledge of French & German is an advantage
- Experience
- >5 years experience required in a supply chain environment (it is a plus to have this experience in a pharmaceutical company, medical device company or hospital)
- Experience with MRP
- Skills:
- Good MS Office Knowledge (Advanced Excel knowledge required, good Powerpoint & Word knowledge, VBA knowledge is a plus) + affinity with various computer programs (SAP knowledge is a plus)
- Analytical mindset + knowledge of MRP concepts
