WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Role Summary / Responsibilities



For our European Technology Centre of Excellence, located at Heverlee (Belgium) and supporting customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa, we are looking for an application engineer who will be responsible for:

a) Performing laboratory-scale simulation studies for industrial process water and wastewater applications, evaluating the efficiency of treatment products and demonstrating the performance optimization of processes.

b) Design and build of new simulation units, mimicking the customer processes on a lab-scale or pilot-scale. In cooperation with Product Application Specialist assist in the design of innovative treatment solutions.

c) Participate in or manage R&D projects focused on new product development for industrial water treatment applications.

d) Summarizing the results and presenting a critical analysis of the results (internally and externally) as well as next steps in the research

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical, Environmental or Biotechnology engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial process water treatment and/or wastewater treatment using chemicals
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills-ability with a critical analytical mind-set
  • Pro-active problem solver driven by high quality standards
  • Keen to embrace and implement technology evolutions
  • IT: expert level in MS Office-suite and general pc-software
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written), knowledge of Dutch is surplus
  • Proficiency in professional reporting/communication to customers

Desired Characteristics


  • Expertise in one of the following areas is an advantage: Microbiology, treatment, membrane separations technology, Fluid transport/hydrodynamics and mass transport.
  • Excellent communication skills towards all levels within the organization
  • Willing to travel for short periods of time within the EMEA region
  • Strong environmental, health and safety ethics
