The Pipeline Project Management (PPM) organization mission is to anticipate and orchestrate the unique combination of projects plans, people and budget that accelerate the delivery of the new drugs and vaccines to the patients who need them. Position Summary
It is critical for R&D organization to develop a best-in-class digital and data eco-system to enable the project management community to thrive in projects planning, forecasting, performance management and reporting.
The Executive Director Digital, Data, Analytics and Performance (DDAP) is a critical leadership role to ensure key transversal activities related to project planning, resource forecasting, projects master data and analytics (including performance analytics) are executed exquisitely to drive best-in-class projects performance and efficient delivery of the pipeline.
The leader of this department will set a vision to ensure R&D has one consistent and common approach across all lines to enable integration of projects’ schedule, cost and resource to improve our performance and guarantee better, faster & more informed decisions. The role ensures key activities related to delivering best-in-class systems and data that support integrated project planning, critical paths optimization, resource management, are performed to enable Pipeline Project Management to deliver on its strategy. This leader will also need to ensure that we optimally leverage resources inside and outside the organization, drives continuous improvement, sets and executes a digital strategy and delivers data driven products to the project managers and other users of the projects data domain, to deliver the pipeline.
The Head DDAP will be the custodian of the master data backbone for R&D and govern Master Data and to support the organization with its bigger DDA strategy.
The role leads a team > 40 people across several seniority levels including directors, and senior directors.

Key Responsibilities:
In this highly rewarding and visible role you will:
- Support Pipeline Project Management and all functional lines across R&D with project management digital solutions and analytics.
- Ensure R&D’s needs are clearly defined and incorporated into the overall scope and requirements for Integrated Project and Resource Management digital eco-system at the enterprise level.
- Define and implement a vision and strategy for the department and define, build, and grow future, industry leading capabilities related to digital, master data management and analytics.
- Set and continuously refine the PPM Digital Data and Aanalytics strategy to meet changing demands both internally and externally by working with peers across the R&D and TECH colleagues.
- Set and govern the R&D project master data strategy, including developing and maintaining the master data processes and systems (it is the master data that will provide the link between the data, thereby unlocking its full potential resulting in data insight generation for strategic decision making). This includes the ownerships and governance of the IDMP strategy (IDMP: Identification of Medicine Products data standards).
- Set the analytics strategy for the PPM data domain and drive greater transparency of time, costs, resources, and overall projects performance data through optimal and fit four purpose data products/reports.
- Equip the organization with solution to ensure monitoring of the data integrity.
- Represent PPM on relevant GSK, and R&D strategic and operational projects that shape the future and deliver optimal performance.
- Represent GSK on relevant external industry and cross industry forums related to Project Management digital solution, Master Data management, and Data analytics.
- Manage the OPEX and CAPEX budget related to the scope of work.
- Proven credibility with R&D leaders as well as Strategic Partners at executive level.
- Given the complexity of the organization and of drugs or Vaccines development plans, across multiple countries and functions, the Head PPM DDAP is central is running deep dives with matrix team and senior leaders to solve complex issues and react fast to changes in environment.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity where a pathway may not be clear, understanding desired outcomes, defining problem statements, and deploying in partnership interventions to seek capability build and continual improvement.
- Successfully completed Advanced degree in Digital/Data area, Life Science or related fields
- Several years of experience relevant to the role (pharmaceutical R&D, Digital Data and Analytics, Master Data Management, IDMP).
- Vast experience leading multidisciplinary, global line and matrix teams.
- Proven experience setting and implementing a DDA vision for a department.
- Track record in leading global initiative, preferably in DDA and in Project Management solutions.
- Familiarity with planning, resource and budget management solutions and processes.
- Knowledge of Pharma Drug/Vaccine development Project Management and of an R&D organization.
- Strong analytical skills with proven experience connecting and visualizing data to support a strategy.
- Strong knowledge of Master Data management and understanding of data standards such as IDMP.
- Ability to influence at all levels of the organization and strong change management experience.
- Able to focus teams on tangible delivery and real outcomes, by cutting through complexity & overcome challenges while not alienating the organization.
- Forward looking and remain aware of DDA industry trends to set future-proofed strategy.
- Excellent communicator both written and verbal.
- High level of energy and passion for DDA and Project Management.
- Education qualification PhD or MBA
- Completion of PMP certification is a plus
- Experience with Planisware system is preferred.
- Experience with complex data architecture and data lakes is preferred.
- Experience with data visualization solutions (PowerBI, Spotfire) is preferred.
- Preference for strong knowledge of project planning, resource forecasting systems and processes.
